I wouldn't consider phychology alternative.
Maybe in the 1900's

psychology is the alternative to psychiatry
No. It isn't-

I missed this :v Was going to write stuff about it x_x but that's me being fatigued from thesis-worries and a lot of work.

I thought psychiatry was just psychology tier 2: prescription medication.
Read up more :P It's 'not just like this'.
I thought psychology and psychiatry are meant to complement each other?
Yes, they are. But not in a way in which one replaces the other as alternatives.

Refer to all Psychiatrists as Psykers.

Fear their powers.
True story from our instructor who is a psychologist of a few decades or more. When she was traveling to the other areas in our region (mountainous--mostly agricultural), she remembered a question a man asked her as an aside (local dialect, so the translation in meaning to english is a bit loose) if 'she could help with issues because they read minds'. Not verbatim, but that's how the question was raised. That was a good start of talking with her, and a nice tiny story.

Although it's hard for me to tell because I forgot the exact wording and just the theme of it ;~;

I thought psychology and psychiatry are meant to complement each other?
They're not meant to do anything with each other, but cooperative relationship can be beneficial. Psychologists deal with many people and if they identify someone who needs psychiatric help they send them off to a psychiatrist. If a psychiatrist is too busy, they can recommend a psychologist to their patient for counseling. The difference at the end of the day is that a psychologist can be any doctrine of psychologist, some more useless or useful than others, from any background, some more useless or useful than others. A psychiatrist is at the end of the day a doctor, subject to a much more ardent selection process, vigorous training and the discipline itself is of a much higher calibre capable of delivering holistic care.

An example from nursing that illustrates this point clearly: there was a patient who complained of a loss of motivation to do things in life, mood swings and disappearing confidence. They were being treated via psychology, with their symptoms diagnosed as the result of repressed trauma from sexual attraction to their mother whilst if they'd gone to a psychiatrist there was a much better chance of them figuring out their symptoms were being caused by an undiagnosed brain tumor.

Health of body, health of mind, the mind is a product of the body and the body in turn controlled by the mind. Thus its health can only rest safely in the hands of a professional that understands the full breadth of these interactions, as opposed to someone who is only qualified to study the processes of behaviour, feelings and motivation. Hence why psychiatrists can prescribe medicines to alter your body's chemistry, psychologists cannot.

That is not to say psychologists are without use, for most people they are of great value in dealing with emotional stress, anxiety, or some other stuff that wouldn't be worth troubling a psychiatrist for.

I thought psychology and psychiatry are meant to complement each other?
They're not meant to do anything with each other, but cooperative relationship can be beneficial.[...]

This is...lacking in part >_< But I lack the time to add to it--just a notice that those are general terms of the medical and mental professionals working in that sphere of profession--there are varied fields under psychology just as there are in psychiatry, from psychometrics to industrial or organizational psychologists (mainly focusing on research), to several areas with a focused discipline. Each with their own specific limitations (wherein limitations move towards 'what can best be done with this profession'), which includes testing and research (eg Psychometricians may do individual testing and are specified for it rather than any psychologist; quoted from both my instructor and others "We're all psychologists, but we need a specialist" when she was talking about doing individual testing [notably because I was the one who requested it :P so I remember what stuffs are said as an aside], but these are mentioned in the course and studies), inasmuch that a psychologist cannot prescribe medication because that's a psychiatrist's job in dealing with medication that interfaces with the biological aspect of a person because it is needed, but also that each aspect (The traditional BioPsychoSocial model) is also networked towards each other and all parts work differently, not just on an equivalent level but equally important.

It's a follow-up to what Frumple mentioned somewhere before in a thread I forgot that while mental focus is important (eg You can see this in the whole stereotype of 'think this awaaaay', the biological part is also important 'because these are also affected by what occurs in the body that cannot be controlled by conscious thought alone, because of how these work (covering the CNS and PNS, nervous systems, as a basic root'. And that's not even mentioning the impact of social connections and the like.)

That post is correct in part :O But the wording may lead to a bit of confusing interpretation.

I think it can cause confusion just because people associate "alternative" with "snake oil," since anything alternative has to share that label with snake oil. Also lol on the far side of alternative, this is the most ""alternative"" you can get

It's also that some terms are wholly not within others' minds (like mine, because yay culture :v) so something very familiar to someone can mean something totally different :P
Like how I can't get some memes. :I

Also lol on the far side of alternative, this is the most ""alternative"" you can get
That title o_o
It seems more like they're working with what's at present though? (given the time and expenditure, it may work as a down-up scenario to help the doctors already qualified by providing aid at lower levels while those still progressing up are to continue their education, also stuff happening in India that I'm not really knowledgeable about, like why those doctors have attrition rates or low motivation or patient-experience or connection between those with high patient-experience and incomplete academic ones, etc)

...And because these 'general ailments' aren't really general because they have specific causes, which may lead to the general misinterpretation because 'this disease has symptoms of these types'. x_x Quality alongside quantity.

I just found someone I really dislike getting utterly killed on NMA.
Bethesda? :P
That thread was kind of amusing, even if I couldn't bare to more than skim the actual story.

Latest WTF: Showed up a couple of hours early to an appointment due to my phone's clock having reset due to it dying at some point. Ugh.
I was kind of confused at first, thinking I was only fifteen minutes early, when one of the staff there asked me, somewhat bemusedly, to come back at two when I said I had a two o'clock appointment and "might be a bit early". Then I checked the time again and it began to dawn on me. Had to call someone and ask what the actual time was. Great job, Self.

The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. For the first time in 108 years. Back to the Future was only off by a single motherfucking year.

...I'm beginning to take more seriously the prospect of the end times now.
