... the amusing thing is that, bandwidth wise, the awoo is like half the size of GC's sig image. Smaller than serg and MSH's avatars put together, too.

Oh yeah sig images can secretly be really large, they just get shrunk.  It's kinda weird.
Shrinking images via img tag doesn't reduce bandwidth either, just screen space.

Actually the spoilers don't help with that, pretty sure they load underneath.

If you want to know more, all you have to do is touhou. Not necessarily play the games, mind. But experience the touhou in itself.
