See, if his employers found this conversation, he'd be fired in a heartbeat.

On an entirely unrelated note, what's your name, where do you live and what's the name of all the local health clinics including hospitals, chairman poo?

"a major one"

(not really at the moment. At the moment at a small one. Temporarily, hopefully. Grand lesson on the problems of having to rely on elsewhere for pretty much everything)

No, Haematologist. A phlebotomist is someone who does phlebotomies. Aka draws blood. Normally a nurse, at least here. I'm a physician specialized in haematology, which here covers the treatment of benign haematological conditions, neoplastic diseases of the bone marrow and lymphatic system, and hemostasis disorders, as well as lab work (in particular blood and tissue banking + cell therapy, and the cytology and cytometry diagnostics lab).

Currently I'm just running a general haematology consult, however. And due to the limitations of this place (very limited - our pharmacy doesn't even have mabthera :() I have to refer outside almost everything I want to get treated.

... Why specifically benign?

Or does malignancy = oncology?

Well, I didn't say "specifically benign". I said that we treat both benign and malignant haematological conditions. I separated them because they're different. An example of a "benign" haematological condition would be aplastic anemia. An example of malignant haematology would be a lymphoma.

As a matter of fact, on an average day it's more usual to get people with malignant haematological conditions than benign ones, because they're more frequent. For the most part, most patients in my current consult come either because of either neoplastic haematological conditions, or hemostasis disorders. We also get a lot of clutter from other specialities (eg: as of late I've gotten four or five patients with anemia which is well known to be secondary to other pathologies, which should be treated by either specialists of those pathologies, or their GP, but they derive them to my joint nonetheless with the excuse that they want me to "manage erythropoietin dosages". Which is a load of bull, but hey, trying to shift work onto others is Our Daily Bread for many people, apparently.), but that's not exactly "haematological pathology".

Woah, hey, what the hell is in this cold medicine. First I felt like my body was on fire, then it kinda felt cold, now my body is strangely slightly numb but I feel overall significantly better, and while it supposed to be kinda cold outside, I feel basically nothing, not even the cough that was ripping my throat from inside out earlier. Huh.

My internet died in a sputter of static and my wifi bar displayed a red x over empty bars. Still have no idea what happened there or why.

The bigger WTF is not that my network connection died, but that doing the built-in "troubleshoot problems" thing actually fixed the problem. I've never seen it do that before. It usually just displays a bar moving for a while and then gives up or gives an overly general diagnosis.

so in their place I'd consider keeping an extra guy in the rooster if only to avoid problems during holidays

Oftentimes the auto-diagnosis program does fix it for me. Usually because the solution come from "reset the connection" or "refresh IP settings", which Windows Network Diagnostics seems to do automatically. At least the Windows 7 one does. Not sure if they took that one out behind the shed and shot it in the kneecap with Win8 or 10.

Getting real tired of these impossible assignments. I shouldn't have to object to every other load appointment  just because the planners are unable or unwilling to do their job right, and I'm getting the sick feeling that my justified objections are going to be held against me at some point.

Today, for instance, I was nearly 3 hours late for an appointment. I had been telling them since Monday morning that I would be late, and my estimated arrival was very close to how it actually turned out.

So, Chris Brown had a standoff with SWAT and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon just now.

I mean, it's not that WTF because Chris Brown, but you'd think a wealthy convicted felon would listen to his lawyer better.

I'd have you'd get more people with malignant conditions because they're more dangerous.

Although I can see how the bell curve would favor pathogens which are actively trying to proliferate rather than just sit.
