Yeah, Christianity apparently didn't leave a very good impression when it first rolled in to any meaningful degree. Crucifixions and whatnot, iirc. The effect's diluted a bit over the years, but the initial foot-shooting (so far as PR goes) made it hard for the religion to get off the ground in the area, or something along those lines.

Christianity is in a really weird position in Japan. Elements from it, particularly the cross and Gothic architecture, are seen as very cool and exotic--much like how people in the West see samurai or kanji. However, it's uncommon for most people over there to do any further research beyond things like the iconography or the basic purpose of a church. This is why you have things like anime characters who are part-time nuns or god-jesus the fortune-telling robot toy.

Speaking of christianity. The "World Youth Days" are on in poland right now.
Apparently some german pilgrims brought their own provisions expecting the country to be in total disarray similar to Brazil right now.

Also so far no terrorist attacks happened so yay for that.

There's some targeting going on of course, that's the entire point.  Some vidya games, some food stuff that looks good.

(I'm using Chrome for Youtube on my desktop computer because in Firefox it started loading stupidly slow, only on that computer.  I could install adblock but, I don't really want to for now.)

Lucky you. The ads i get are almost exclusively pure trash.
Especially the braincell killing banners telling me the tear jerking story of a kid with down syndrome who learned how to buy brand new sports cars for $250 THANKS TO ONE SIMPLE TRICK

the internet is slower on firefox

I stopped using firefox since i got chrome.

Also google seems to be sabotaging it since YouTube seems to work horribly on it.

They did a massive UI change a couple years ago that added stupid bevels to everything.  My friends and I use the Classic Theme Restorer plugin.

In other words we're largely keeping Firefox due to momentum and not wanting change   But, it's also open-source and that's worth a lot to me.

Yeah I'm using firefox because I like it.
Have never donated to date though.
