When I was younger I slept with the light on... and did so into my teen years as well.

Ok, I am not going to pretend like gaming culture is perfect and we are some bastion of acceptance across all racial and gender lines. There are still some problems and while I personally think it is far better then TV and Movies... what is with this projection?

Girls who play games isn't unusual or rare... and no one outside the crazies honestly believe women have no place in the gaming community.

Is there female harassment on the internet? Yes. Yet that isn't a product of gaming culture no matter WHAT Obama says (Yes... Obama blames gaming culture for it. Saying that we don't police "our own kind" enough.). Yet why whenever we get an episode on it is this suddenly ALL of gamer's fault some sort of direct product of gaming culture.

No one blames Christians for the KKK, no one blames Italians for the Mafia. Hey Italians, you need to police the Mafia more! Clearly they are your fault.

In fact the last argument Bay12games had on that topic was about whether the 48% gamerbase statistic was misleading or not. No one argued anything else.

Got carjacked and successfully fought off 6 guys attacking me on memorial day at 5 am, smashed the window of their getaway vehicle, helped ensure two of the crooks got arrested, ID'd the main one and made sure they'll get 25 years in jail, spent the rest of today helping some portuguese and brazilians in my local park who got robbed by a bunch of hoodlums from the local projects, just finished following them with a posse of teens until they gave up and bailed, created an impromptu informant network from the local overly-observant and bored old folk and young concerned kids alike, and generally have been having a crazy but amazingly wizening life lately.

Honestly I just want to create a thread where we collect every piece of CSI, Law and Order, police procedural, and made for TV movie about gaming culture.

I already had to watch a documentary about how gaming culture is bad and developers are poor little victims of their harassment.

Actually here is a story for you: I was watching a documentary about students socially harassing teachers with my mother and it basically paints students as mean malicious people and the teachers as meek sensitive victims (which for what it was doing was fine. Not everyone has the will to stand up to harassment).

According to my mother, her school (as in teacher faculty) laughed at this documentary. (they watched it because their school was in it) Mostly because none of the teachers in it would have been able to last one month in their school and how overblown the documentary was making it seem, as if it was some plague or tornado.

One example of that is some recent reporting about games which have been delayed (or the concept heavily changed before release) and people got upset about it, the media labels them petty entitled whiners. But they leave out the detail that in these incidents they almost always involved projects which were crowdfunded.

Hell, if people prepay for something and it's not delivered on schedule, or it's not what they were told when they put money down, getting shitty is pretty universal and not at all confined to gamers. But I think the media just hasn't caught up to the concept of crowdfunding and how this deeply changes the nature of how the consumer relates to the product.

Well the Jedi seem to have a way of surviving nasty pupils.
Plus i remember there was a polish documentary about anime painting dragonball as some sort of pedophile porn and showing preteen children reading Dr. Slump as victims of exposed to porn at such tender and innocent age.
And to make things more hilarious it was emited on the very same channel that used to air a lot of anime.
