Found two white bumps just above my right eye. They almost look like pimples, but the don't have the localized swelling and squeezability of a pimple. Tried rather hard to pop or remove them, but instead nearly scratched through the surrounding skin. Judging from the spacing of the two, it might be a spider bite that didn't have the pain or swelling I would expect from a spider bite.

I can't tell whether the milions of rabid fans rushed to see the movie and gave it milions of 10/10's without thinking or the critics are a bunch of 60+ year old farts that went "Vidya games in my mooovieeees? Not on my watch! 1/10"

You ask Rotten Tomatoes if you want a thoughtful movie, you ask IMDB if you want an entertaining movie.

Sometimes, movies aren't both.

Plus, Blizzard usually cares more about the cool factor and entertaining using set conventions than actually inventing anything new. That sounds like a good way to annoy critics. And sometimes critics do look like asses but without them the movie industry would stagnate. Just don't get surprised when they give exactly zero shits about the entertainment value.

Why put actual effort into a movie when your massive fan base will inevitably pay back all the costs of production and more just because of the title?

A lot of effort did go into the film. A meticulous attention to detail, careful knowledge of the lore...
And it still turned out shithouse.

While it might be an objectively poor film (I have no idea, except the graphics looked kinda cheap and ridiculous) I hope it catered to the intended audience.  Companies kept trying to making video game films for non-gamers.  Which is a logical marketing strategy, I guess, but it just sucks for the actual fans.

Thinking of the Doom movie mostly...  In other words, at least it sounds like Warcraft fans enjoyed this, which is significant IMHO

it's not innovative. Ok but that does not in any way explain the high numbers of 1-3/10 scores those critics give the movie.

A 1-2/10 is an unwatchable mess like the amazing bulk or titanic 2 that fails to be funny even when watched in a "This is a parody" mindset. a movie so atrocious you can't watch and enjoy even after smoking weed. A rancid piece of cinematography you leave the cinema after watching the first 10 minutes because you just know nothing good can come out of it.

The disconnect between the critics and audience is getting too big.
After all shouldn't movie reviews point moviegoers towards entertaining movies as well as thought provoking ones rather than just comparing everything to Citizen Kane?

Well, if you compare Mad Max: Fury Road to Citizen Kane neither are going to compare in terms of what they do well. However, both critics and audience loved that film. Except Yoink.

Critics and the audience are closer than one might believe, mainly because the two are the same these days.

With Warcraft... I don't know, numerical scores were always bullshit. See the average user reviews site for videogames where it is either 10/10 best game or 1/10 ban this shit.

It wasn't that bad IMO, they actualy cared about the lore a fair bit on it, but I felt the actors were kinda lacking. That female orc is the femaleist orc i've ever seen :v
