I'd still like to know what Tack's job is all about.

TBH if you're going to read and watch TV for 8 hours straight taking a break is pretty much mandatory for your eyeballs anyway.

At my work we sit in a room for eight hours watching television and reading books.
We have a person turn up to our room and sit with us for half an hour so that it can be legally proven that we had a break.
Where can I sign up for this work?

Do you work at the Censor's Office or something?
Could also be the tv/movie-rating office.
Isn't that the same thing? Unless the US privatised censorship.

The closest thing government censorship in the US, with the exception of classified military or government secrets, are the ban on underage porn, the ban on beastiality porn in some states, and the 18+ requirement for legal porn. Anything more than that has been explicitly ruled illegal.

FCC content regulation for over the air TV and radio broadcasts could be argued to count as well, but is legal only because the broadcast frequencies are government owned and provided to the TV or radio networks on a lisence basis. The FCC has little authority over cable or satellite TV for this reason.

The two big rating systems (the MPAA for films and the ESRB for video games) are guidelines provided by their respective industries to help consumers (particularly parents) know what the product contains, and have no legal force whatsoever, even though many stores or theaters enforce them by policy and claim it is the law to avoid argument.

(Posting this from phone, will clean up as needed when I get home.)

Working at the #1 retailer of ESRB rated titles, I can tell you that it's less to avoid action by the government, and more to avoid stupid lawsuits by stupid parents who don't understand or initially care what their kids want to play (I seriously sold a lady GTAV for her 6 year old son. Even after I told her about the...adultiest...bits.) and prevents us from getting, "You sold excessively violent softcore porn to my kids!"

Our response gets to be, "No, we sold it to you. Who you give it to after you purchase it is your responsibility, not ours."

It wouldn't be an issue, but people can't be fucked to do a smidgen of research about what their kids like and/or think for themselves.

FREEDOM

That is because no female I know would ever use those pickup lines... even ironically.
Really? I exchange ironic pickup lines with my friends, female and male. Maybe you need better female friends.

I don't exactly remember the forum guidelines so perhaps this breaks them, but have any of you guys ever dealt with chatbots that pretended to be attractive women who are totally into you?
I get those occasionally on Skype.  I ran a couple through their script out of curiosity and boredom - pretty funny!  At least when I was stuck on a family vacation with only my smartphone :P

In one case I pretended to be 12 and replied to every single message with the (dance) emote.  Good times.  (Nowadays I would use (monkey))

Ok I SHOULD leave my WTF to the page that got bumped off... and I will for the most part.

But I have to ask because I will never find out...

What year were married men not allowed to be in the same room as another woman?

Or heck what year were "Men" not allowed to be in the same room as another woman?

I want to know when this "Old fashioned" thing was. I honestly tried looking it up but all I get is websites on Islamic countries (No... not making it up. Though how accurate those sites are is beyond me)

2016. *points at the "Islamic State"* Oh look, I guess you already found the answer.

Any Muslim state, really. Also any orthodox Jewish community and lots of Christian sects.

But I assume he means in the US (or in western society in general?) instead of amywhere, in which case I would answer before the 1920's. Very, very roughly.
