Finally got my desktop back up and running the other day. Only for this piece of metal on the left part of my laptop screen to break, so now it won't do proper closing and opening stuff like a laptop is supposed to do. So, to sum up my current computer history for the past six months

Power cable issues with laptop
Desktop hard drive issues
Accidently the Win8 bootloader on Laptop
Desktop PSU dies
Laptop metal thingy breaks
The amount of time that I've had a functioning laptop and desktop at the same time can be measured in weeks since winter break. Who the hell did I anger? Was it the computing god? Are there little computer gnomes running around sabatoging me? Am I the future programmer of Skynet?

I lean towards nWoD because I prefer a more freeform approach to lore.
So, what's your opinion about combat mechanics in nWoD? Is it: a) garbage, b) complete garbage, c) Exalted-level of garbage, or d) something else?
As long as it doesn't impede roleplaying by taking hours to calculate, combat mechanics don't really matter to me. So, d), I suppose.

This.  Also it's kinda random and lethal I guess, which is cool because it makes me cautious about any combat encounter.  I'm certainly not saying it's better because of "realism", I just like being worried about normal people who might have knives.  It's different.

New mouse and keybpard arrived last night. I installed them and they are nice.  They both light up letting you work in the dark.  I expected that with the mouse, but the keyboard doing that was also a pleasant surprise.

Until I went to bed and noticed a relatively bright red glow coming from the computer.  Spent some time trying to figure it out but there does not seem to be a way to disable the glow without either shutting off the computer or unplugging them.

I have task scheduler set to perform maintenance stuff at night, so that's why the computer stays on, and the cords are impractical to reach every night for turning off.  It looks like covering it up with a towel at night is the best option.

WTF who builds shiny lights into a mouse and keyboard and then doesn't bother to program some way for them to turn off?

Seriously.  I think I need to take some masking tape to those bright blue LEDs on my desktop and portable hard drive.  It's useful information sometimes I guess, but they're seriously bright enough to light up the room at night.  Distracting.  (I've been rearranging things a lot recently, it's kinda fun but weird)

Greiger: Red's not so bad. Won't disrupt your night vision or wreck your melatonin production etc etc. Blue, on the other hand... I disabled all the blue lights in my case ages ago, and my mouse can light up in many different colors~ or not at all (though the dpi meter is always red unless it's at 0 and then there's no light from it).

'T ain't no problem, man. Unless you're weird and keep the computer on all the time, but even then it provides a nice, steady, quiet noise to focus on so it's a bit easier to fall asleep.

Haven't had a PC in my bedroom for years though, but I was the most technically inclined person in my family when I was a youth (this being relative to not very technically inclined people) so I had my own PC for all my porn gaming needs.

Yeah I got a brilliant MSI mouse which also seems to light up the whole room.

I have a "MyPhone" Mouse and keyboard with led lights (hey i love bootleg hardware) and... i indeed have my PC in the bedroom.

The keyboard has keys that let me disable the light but the mouse is perma lit even when the PC is completely shut down.

Why do you need lights on your keyboard and mouse anyway? Even if you haven't memorized where the letters are on your keyboard, you have the computer's screen to help you see. Unless you sit ten feet away from your computer.

What makes ME WTF is that the keyboard on my laptop lights up.... For all of five seconds when I turn it on and then stays turned off all the time.  It's like, why bother?
