My mouse appears to be damaged. The scroll wheel when scrolling down seems to accept the scrolling stopping as input to scroll back up a couple times. So I roll the scroll wheel down once and I often end up right back where I started, if not higher on the page.
The left mouse button also appears to be borked as it seems to forget that button is being held down at random times and then suddenly remembering it's being pushed. Making dragging and dropping seem more akin to Russian roulette. As the object being dragged gets dropped at random locations and then suddenly something else is being dragged across the screen. Sometimes the button stops taking input in such a way that it will randomly register doubleclicks while dragging too, which is always fun.
this was something like a $20 'gaming' mouse that I've only used for about half a year. I have a crappy dell 2 button mouse that probably cost a quarter of that, that I've had for 7 years and is still trucking like a champ. What ever happened to expecting basic quality products? It's almost like this stuff is made to last just long enough to be rated highly on online markets before kicking the bucket now.
I've been using a Logitech 2-button with scrollwheel, wireless, for about 5 years I think. It's finally started failing in an odd way... It's getting pickier and pickier about the surfaces it'll work on. And yeah I've cleaned it, it stops working on anything about once a week unless I wipe the lens with a torn piece of tissue.
It was getting so finicky that I thought I had to replace it, which would suck because I've worn a very comfortable groove in the side for my thumbnail. Fortunately I tried getting a brand-new modern mousepad instead, and that's actually working perfectly! At least for now.
But yeah I'm very skeptical of modern gaming mice. Personally I hate the extra buttons, I hit them a lot by accident because I'm not used to them. I'm not surprised to hear they break easily.
(also I use my middle finger for the right mouse button. I know it's wrong, but it's what I'm used to, and using all three fingers feels too weird. I just scroll and left-click with my index)
Oh oh and at Best Buy I saw gaming glasses. They were a very light orange, and apparently reduce glare... yeah... Technically useful I'm sure, but they were like $30 lol.
