Seriously, this obsession with making every damn thing 'smart' and multi purpose is getting pretty old for me. These things were designed with a purpose and they've been doing that purpose without fault for years now, why would you tack on needless bloat crap on them.

Several reasons.
1 - Same one as turning phones into smartphones.
2 - Bragging rights and money sink.
3 - Liking new tech in general no matter if it's useful or not.

Because everyone wants to create the next tech revolution. The next iPhone, the next Facebook, the next PC. The problem is, no one knows exactly how to do that. It takes the right conditions, the right people and more than a little luck. So you've got these giant companies throwing shit at the wall and hoping some of it sticks, because there's no way to tell what idea will turn out to be truly visionary.

Sharktopus?

Sharktopus has many limbs and a mean bite.

Sharktopus is, however, weak to weapons because it is made of flesh and has one hell of a hard ime armoring itself.  Sharktopus usually dies of bloodloss because it has so many limbs and DF has a hard time managing how much blood is in what.  Sharktopus has limited technology and weaponry because it has no opposable thumbs.  Sharktopus is overall threatening, especially in worldgen, but its tendency to wrestle over biting and using a weapon makes it manageable.


Im only envisoning this based off my experience with modding.
