There's one I forgot, the Blue Eyes / Brown Eyes experiment. Divide a class (of the same race) into blue eye and brown eye groups. Give a bunch of privileges to one, and disadvantages to the other, while claiming one group is better than the other. .

In some old contexts, 'gay' means 'happy'. Nowadays it's rarely used like that, for obvious reasons.

They could make it targeted advertising, trying to sell cosmetics to whom the facial recognition defines as 'ugly' people. Or alternatively, sell a Smart Mirror Deluxe subscription for 20€/month that comes without ads.

Would Microsoft allow custom apps for mirrors? Maybe. Would Microsoft allow adblocker apps for mirrors? Almost certainly not. It would get pretty weird to have to jailbreak one's mirror just to not have to watch ads on it. Since the Smart Mirror doesn't seem to do anything another device doesn't already, I'm going to stick with regular mirrors for now (if that thing even hits the markets).

There was this handheld console sold some time ago that came in 2 variants.
The cheaper one sold below manufacturing costs that would show you ads upon starting and the more expensive "deluxe" version that wouldn't.


It might be the same principle here.
