I am a comcast wireless gateway support specialist.  I can say with 100% confidence that your modem needs an exorcism.  I can have a techcorsist out to your house by Monday of next month.  That will be $80.

Joking aside your cell phone may be using it's cell data connection to post.  Just because the wifi has no internet doesn't mean your cell provider isn't super happy to automatically have you start paying them for the connection without making it immediately obvious to many.

As for the internet connection, may be a number of things.  If you have a router and a modem, and not one of the two in one boxes that are both in one, it may be a good idea to restart the router.  Not sure the specifics of why, but it seems like something causing the modem to lose connection borks most routers until they are restarted.

I can still kill my router's wifi by moving my work laptop a sufficient distance in real-space.  Going upstairs or downstairs with it makes the wifi fail, for all devices, about half the time.  It sometimes manages to fix itself after about 5 minutes, usually I powercycle it.

Again, it definitely nixes the wifi for all devices, but the wired connections continue fine.  Doesn't happen with my older laptop or phone.  It could be related to plugging/unplugging, but I think it's the actual movement.  I checked the error log BTW- absolutely nothing logged.  I should just replace the router, it's a couple years old, but the fault is kinda interesting and I don't move that laptop a lot.

Many people go online on new releases These times, I believe it's in the # of people posting at the same or nearly same time that causes that. Unsure as to the technical specifics though, but I've noticed the 504s regularly happen during both high # of people online, and high # of posts happening in a current time.

Tomorrow I have to give a presentation (and it's not yet prepared), pass a colloquium followed by a test on a fucking annoyingly difficult and fiddly subject (to which I'm absolutely not prepared yet), defend my modelling laboratory work (which is not prepared yet) and quite likely, will also have to show my course work (which is - guess what - not prepared yet). And yet I still can't be arsed to start preparing for all of those. Also, I've a headache and overall feeling woozy.

Just before going to bed last night, I took a dose of dollar store-brand Nyquil. I slept ~7.5 hours, which is the upper side of normal sleep for me. But I was also extremely drowsy all day. While I'm certainly grateful for the sleep(hadn't managed more than 4 a night all week) I'm not sure how two softgel pills of this stuff can make me feel like this for more than 12 hours afterwards.
