We used the nail polish for chiggers, which in retrospect are a lot like bedbugs except they didn't infest houses.

We encountered a lot of ticks and chiggers, and frankly I always scraped them off with a fingernail.  Or my mom used a credit card.  I was probably relatively at risk for lyme disease, in retrospect.

A guy I know got a bizarre but extreme reaction to eating the meat of lactating animals, from a tick.  Parasites are weird.

huh.  Well the chiggers probably weren't offering much in the way of disease, but maybe my mom was right about scraping off the ticks.  She was a nurse, so it shouldn't surprise me.

When it's nippy out, the weather itself seems to want to take a 'nip' out of you. A 'nip', of course, being a small bite.

"Nippy" is a slang term for annoying in Scotland.

Also an adjective for a stinging pain, similar to what cold weather can cause.

I can't remember exactly what happened, but it was painful, unsightly and did not end well for the tick.

Now that I think of it, I don't believe it actually crawled into the urethra (thankfully, that would probably be very bad)- I think it was somehow under the foreskin, then died in there and left this horrible red... blister, I guess? And that eventually burst and healed. Obviously these memories were for the most part repressed until this topic came up, and they're still somewhat hazy. Plus it was probably at least ten years ago.

...So, now, who wants to hear about the worst place I've had a leech attach to me?

Unless Yoink urine is highly corrosive flammable acid (which, all things considered, might be a thing in this case) I belive the mentioned course of action is the only reasonable way out.

I am sorely tempted to sig at least part of this...

Knowing where leeches can latch onto (knowing people who travel or camp in places where there were leeches, and having a forest as a backyard being host to leeches), I am already scaaared .-.

Hope it's ok there .-. I dislike the stigma attached to talking about those things when being brought to a doc or such.

If a tick bites you on the dick, there's no point in cutting it off. It's already transferred any diseases it has to you, they only appropriate course of action is to avoid getting a boner and hope that the thing starves to death.

I wouldn't think that dodging a boner would be too hard when a urethral tick is a thing that is happening. I mean, unless you're into that?

I really hope no one's into that.

I suggested to my dad we watch Avatar: The Last Airbender.
He asked whether I was talking about the cartoon or the movie, and I answered that the cartoon, of course.
"Are you crazy? You're not a child anymore!"
...?

I tried to explain that just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it can onky be watched by children, but he seemed to ignore me.

Aww dude, that sucks. I've been there too; have a hard time explaining to some folks that animation isn't all My Little Pony, despite the obvious counterexamples. I mean, stuff like Rick and Morty or Southpark or Bojack Horseman have been around forever. Even oldies like Rocky and Bulwinkle can be appreciated for it's silliness and wit, right? It's hard to explain what's worth watching in something like Avatar: The Last Airbender or Steven Universe to folks who automatically dismiss them as kids stuff. Sometimes I say that it's like Pixar animations, in that there's layers that people of any age can appreciate. Even the cuteness, or the action, or the absurdity, or the aesthetics and writing technique, or whatever else is plenty enough to enjoy it. If you're willing to watch vacuous Horror or Action Schlock, you can watch Cartoons dangit!

There's a flip-side too; my Brother-In-Law won't watch early Miyazaki with me either, though I know he'd like it. He just says "Isn't anime the Tentacle Porn thing?" if I bring it up. It's probably more a joke than anything, but it still sucks to be dismissed, you know? :<

Whatever it is, it's crappy to want to share something you liked with someone else, only to be undermined by whatever preconception they had. Best thing for it is probably to seek out some folks who will share it with you, and who won't undermine you or make you feel crappy for liking the things you like.
