Come on, that's a copout. If you use that argument, you sorta have to make it plausible that a proper Communist state can exist in the first place. The default assumption is that anything that starts out as a proper Communist state degenerates the way we've seen countless times, and that this corruption is thus an inherent property of the proposed system, making the distinction pointless.

There has never been an honest attempt at a Marxist state. It has never started out Marxist and got corrupted into a weird mutant version of itself. It has never started out Marxist, failed, and was changed to capitalize on the power vacuum.

It always started out as a bastardization and then it got BAD!

Lenin actually did a pretty decent job of communism. S'just the state was too centralised, and left it open for Stalin to fuck everything up.
I mean, that's an oversimplification, but you get the idea.

Currently watching a very, very strange movie called Journey to the West.
It has a sense of humour that's even more bizarre than the Chinese comedies I've watched in the past... it's actually quite good!
Going to have to re-watch it sometime in the future with friends whilst heavily intoxicated.

I learned today that the tax penalty for not having health insurance is actually a per-month fee. This is bad since I haven't had insurance for the past month, I am waiting for my job to offer it, and I don't know when it will be offered.

Afaik, you can be uninsured for 3 months before the tax penalty applies.

Bah, semantics. Give me one definition of Marxism that does not include Marxism-Leninism. And no, 'what Marx himself wrote' is not a valid definition - mostly because that goes completely against the common usage of the word, but also because the late Marx contradicts a fair few things the early Marx said.
