It's probably a lot harder to see if anyone is attracted to you if you assume no one is. At the same time, it's also probably a lot easier to think someone's attracted to you if you think someone is.

This tends to be true for the most part, because if you're expecting something, your body language shows it and attentive people will see. Expectations may lead to overdressing, among other things. I've always ascribed to not waiting for people to approach me if I actually am looking for something they have; I'll approach them myself.

Loathe as I am to admit, I have nothing in common with the usual people, but in order to get the attention of people, you must be able to connect in some way, and typically that involves adapting to their generic shit. The more generic factoids you know, the easier breaking the "wall of ice" gets, due to the fact that you can keep the conversation going for long periods of time.

But that's too tiring for me; I just usually end up not talking to people for a while after I run out. I don't really have an interest over the usual sports, celebrities and news things.

Amusing filter aside, you look good.  And you're a cool guy who volunteered a shitton to make other people happy.  I don't know if you need to lower your standards, or just get out there more.

I know how it is to be trapped in a negative self-confidence loop.  But it didn't go away by wallowing, it only got worse!  It's a vicious cycle, you have to break out.  You need motivation.  I wanted financial freedom.  Apparently you want to sex people - great, use that!

I assuaged my social awkwardness by forcing myself to talk to strangers at every opportunity.  Yeah it was awkward and uncomfortable.  But it helps, particularly once I realized that people like to talk about themselves.  Listening is the most attractive social skill...  So grind that skill!  Learn how to casually encourage someone to keep talking.  People LOVE that.  It helps a lot if you actually follow what they're saying, of course.

And while my expectations were super low, I was actually pleasantly surprised...  A lot (maybe not most) people say some interesting things when given an ear.  And in my experience, the successes are worth it...  And the skill of listening is incredibly useful when you need to flatter someone, like for work.

Uh I don't know how much of this applies to you specifically, I just went on a tangent.  What'd you say... Oh, yeah that's bs.
I'm a better listener in person I swear.

TL;DR: I found some porn where the big plot hole wasn't "they're boinking".

So the backstory, as indicated by the dialogue, was that two women, let's call them A and B, who were friends had plans to go to Europe together. However, B thought that A had slept with her boyfriend (which she may or may not have actually done) and refuses to go with her. So A, not wanting to go to Europe alone and having only a few hours before the plane leaves, has gone to B's brother and is begging him to accompany her, and he's not having any of it, because there's no way he could hide or disguise this from his girlfriend.

As I said, this was porn, so we all know how it ended.

Now the WTF factor to all of this is that when it comes to porn, my suspension of disbelief is a fair bit harder to break than when I'm watching anything else. However, by either by virtue of the porn stars being very good actors or being poor actors who didn't put much effort in, the characters came across as so shallow and promiscuous that their boinking would've been completely believable in a non-pornographic context if you edited out the naughty bits. In fact, it was the fact that the guy was ready to leave for Europe in a couple hours on a whim that nearly broke my suspension of disbelief in the end! (though to be fair, it started in the middle of their conversation, so it might have been established off-screen that the guy was on vacation, laid off or otherwise free from work duties)

Honestly I don't know why producers even bother putting the story in anyway. Are there a significant number of people who can't get off unless the sex is justified in-universe?

Who even needs an in-universe? Plenty of sites do just fine with "see this chick? She's about to get boinked for your amusement" nowadays.

@OW
Well yes
The naked human form is trivially accessible, it really comes down to the dressing.

"Justified" may be a strong term, but it does help for there to be an interesting context.
It's by far not the only factor, but it it's significant.

Neo I platonically love you but I don't get this reference.

Well, yeah, the fantasy is a thing. But IMO if you're plot's just going to be half-assed anyway, there's no point in going beyond character establishment.

They're probably trying to make themselves feel better about being so poor that the front of their house is literally just dirt

the boink bothers me more than i can actually get some feeling from it; the japanese tend to flat out state things that are happening like they're reading some kind of manual from ikea
