Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

To a large extent Bach's musical style fits in the conventions of his day, which is the final stage of the baroque style. When his contemporaries, such as Handel, Telemann and Vivaldi wrote concertos he did so too. When they wrote suites, he did so too.

that is the worst piece of prose i've ever seen on a wikipedia article

Some outsiders just want to watch the world burn.

Though arguably it's just Satan's job to antagonize...  Makes sense that the lord of Sloth would phone it in sometimes.

If I had a time machine I would go back in time and make really minor inconveniences and changes to random historical figures.

Satan has the right idea. Continually chipping away at someone's tower causes far more grief than destroying it once

Frumple, a paper like that and the professor trolling undergrads who don't want to apply nose -> grindstone says to me that it's probably worth at least 30-40% of the class grade. I distinctly remember a few like that myself; it was always a good way to weed out the students who were both lazy and incompetent while having a giggle. Had one brilliant one who taught me the invaluable skill of brevity by assigning free-topic policy papers and failing anyone who went over a page in length.

Tenure is a wonderful thing, isn't it

It is, and I say that without a trace of sarcasm. Almost all of my favorite professors were senior enough to get away with doing basically whatever the hell they wanted with their classes. As a rule, those taught by them tended to be more interesting, more difficult, and conveyed more useful skills and knowledge. The worst ones were the ones who gave softball assignments, plentiful extra credit, and generous curves when people fucked up their exams.

im in high school but there's basically two types of teacher that can't be fired: awesome and asshole. My school has examples of both

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Tenure, as always, is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one side it protects the great professors who really know their stuff from being punished by administration for little things and lets them actually teach like they should be able to in the first place. On the other side it protects the horrible professors who are totally fine saying "shit teaching anything about what you are actually supposed to teach in this class, I'm gonna do my own thing and screw you students".

Trying to figure out how I'll make a game designed for I'm fairly certain Windows XP install on Windows 10. Hrrrrrrm. The installer goes 'nuh' and then compatibility settings activate, but it does not appear to want to work just the same.

You could try emulating WinXP with some software sorcery I can't remember the specifics of at this time of the night. Failing that, a manual install is usually an option.
