Held the door for a girl who was walking close behind me on the way out of a store. She looked at me and muttered "I already have a boyfriend" and got this sour look on her face, then hurried past me. I didn't even stop walking, just held onto the door longer than strictly necessary so she could get through before it closed. She was empty handed, but it's basically common courtesy in my experience, and several people do it for me every single day. What's different this time?

I know it's usually bad form to blame the victim, but they really can't have expected any different doing something like that. The dude was a surprisingly cool about it at the end there though.

Just a couple of kilos. I'm basically back to my old, usual weight. I'd lost even more lately for some reason, but it seems to be back now.
Still well below a healthy BMI. >.>

I don't think nutrition lacks can prevent actual fat gain, unless you eat foods without any fat, sugar or starch in, let alone other usefuls.

Which would not really be foods.

And from your posts on the drunk thread, the starch thing shouldn't be a major problem, at least.

Trying to buy a bulb of garlic from the deli counter of a little corner market. "A what?"

This isn't the only corner market nearby where I've confused the counter by asking for a 'bulb of garlic'. Why is it so difficult to comprehend that even gibberish sounds clearer?

It might be that 'bulb of garlic' is a rather unusual term, at least in your area. I for one have never heard it used until today.

'Head of garlic' might be accepted more readily. Or just 'some garlic', really.

I feel like we've discussed this topic at least once before, most likely in this thread.
Moral of the story is, be a selfish asshole wherever possible. Remember: other people are only there for my your benefit, and any unnecessary interaction should be avoided wherever possible unless there is some potential for me you to profit from it!

Hmm. As tempting as the first option is, perhaps it might be best to go with option C- walk in there, glare sleepily at the offending persons and growl at them to "shut the f*** up, I'm trying to sleep"? The cuss is important, it lets them know you mean business.
Or at least that you really would like to get to sleep, I guess.

That's just what has worked for me when dealing with similar situations in the past, anyway.
It took me some deep contemplation before I realised there was a third, more efficient solution to the problem, one that didn't involve a prison sentence or an entirely sleepless night!
