Hit the paywall for Pokemon Picross, the puzzle game I've been playing since I got my 3DS. In order to unlock new areas and other things, it uses an in-game currency called Picrites. These can be obtained in-game through completing objectives in puzzles, as well as a series of quick puzzles that's available every 24 hours(realtime). However, these are single-digit amounts, and the smallest Picrite amount I need to progress is 80. They can also be bought from the Nintendo store with real money, with the bonus that after buying 5000 of them, you have infinite Picrites. I checked, and it's a bit over $30 to get 5000, for what was a free downloadable game.

The weird part is that Nintendo gives infinite currency, basically fully unlocks the game, for $30.  I think I heard about this, I don't know if it was this game.  It's really admirable!  They've taken the F2P model and removed the part where people can overpay.  Most F2P games are funded by those poor "whales" who pay hundreds of dollars, here they're basically offering a demo and a full game (with payment levels between).

It's crazy, they're throwing away a lot of money in order to be decent (and look good, hopefully).  It would be wonderful if this was the standard F2P model, in my opinion.

Its not really a mobile game though. Pokemon picross is basically a f2p 3ds game, and $30 is a very average price for new 3ds games.

In other news, I have always found "Mines" in space to be WTF-worthy. When trying to kill extremely fast things that come from any direction and can be seen, and see you, from thousands of miles away, why would you rely on unguided short-proximity explosives? Orbital mines would, more rationally, be effectively solar-powered sensor/missile launch sites.
