Apparently, the MGSV situation was because they actually balked a bit IIRC. Zero and Snake's recasting both, though from what I've heard Kojima never even considered anyone but Sutherland for Snake.

I s'pose. I just find it hard not to accept anyone other than Hayter as the voice. Evidently the change needs to be rationalized somehow! :0

Rationalized thusly: Venom knew unconsciously he wasn't the real Snake, so in remembering (as I believe the first few missions are referred to as Flashbacks or some such on the mission select menu) he remembers Big Boss as having Venom's voice, so as not to go mad.
