Okay, sure, Geralt got killed, but he also got unkilled.

Funilly enough the games are not canon, or rather canon in their own way, Sapkowski doesn't really support it or whatever.
Geralt is cool. He likes to tell people to fuck off while they're holding sharp objects which is super-cool and badass and quality of it's own.

gotcha. i saw Cinder bring up Geralt as an example before the skip, and it was clearly an argument then (mostly because folks were talking shit about a community whatever-the-hell-gendered-pronoun-Cinder-prefers seems to be a part of), so continuity seemed possible

I myself never usually play a "better me" in games, but actually enjoy playing styles of character and personality which are way out of my comfort zone. It's a challenge to try and shunt that personality forward.

Sometimes it's scarier when one does find the lost items. I once lost a delicious cookie. A year or so later, I found it under my bed. It looked relatively well preserved, if a bit dusty, but when I touched it to pick it up to throw it away, a huge centipede crawled out as the cookie crumbled to dust. That was the most startlingly disgusting thing I can recall, and I have seen gory dead bodies from a violent traffic accident. I think I once mentioned I'm not squicked by corpses, but when something I had thought to once have been food turned out to contain eldritch horrors...

From this story we can conclude that your battery has found new life as the power source of a nail bomb, just waiting to be found by you. Stay safe.
