Overpowered characters are just as un-fun for players and GM as awful, stupidly-built ones.
Either way it forces them to either scale up or scale down every fight, and if it's a homebrew they're gonna have to go out of their way to get something which'll negate your special thing which makes you awesome.

However, if the thing you're getting is a bunch of useful out-of-combat stuff like lockpicking and whatnot, then hey, why not. It's less about overshadowing and more about having an extra person in case one of you rolls badly.

That & most American (or Australian etc.) chocolate isn't legally chocolate (it's confectionary) in a lot of Europe because the % of cocoa is too low. In a sense it's more sugared vegetable oil then chocolate.

Firstly, Cocoa butter is sweet sugary king.
Secondly, the last time I got my hands on Belgian chocolate, it basically vaporized in the heat.

IIRC it was so chalky it was dusty, and intensely bitter.  Kinda interesting to nibble small bits though?  Meh, I'm happy with Hershey's "dark".  Or better yet the co-op stuff my family used to get, which I think was 70-80%.

That reminds me...  Fresh ground peanut butter is to die for.  There were these machines which manually dispensed it like ice cream into your container, no salt or sugar, warm from the grinding.  It was amazing.

DANG there are a lot of Heidi movies...

and yet I already have my favorite one and which ones I think were lousy.

But I am frankly fascinated because each one REALLY focuses on a different aspect of the story and makes things up.

One focuses on Heidi's relationship with her Grandfather, another focuses on her life in the city, and another has an oddly religious turn that I hope isn't in the real book.

I actually think it is incredibly interesting to take the same piece of fiction, and not one with a billion versions like most fairytales, and see how multiple people made it.

What is kind of funny is most of them try to weasel their way out of the Boring/bad parts of the book in different ways.

I also like cooking chocolate, chocolate is meant to taste bitter just like coffee. A bit of sugar in it is good but if it tastes sweet you're just hiding the flavour.

While I was picking up the mail, a bunch of deer were around the edge of the property. They just stood there, staring at me unblinkingly as I walked to the mailbox and back.
