I think I've just failed the "are you a hipster" test.

While I mention it whenever it's relevant, I actually don't give a shit about the fact that I'd been a fan of Radiation for 5 years before Undertale came out. Like, I usually only mention it in the contexts "where did you first hear about it" (i heard about it because it's radiation's game) and other such first impression things, but that could be like a million hipster cred points. That game's already sorta hipster, being a fan of the hipster game's dev before he was cool? Shit, man.

Oh, also Mark Hadley. He made Slender. I was a fan of him before he was a Homestuck musician (he made the Kid Radd music)! Now that's some hipster shit.

Oh, related: just traced my interests and it comes back to:

Code: [Select]
Toby Fox's "Black" -> Homestuck -> Homestuck music -> Music in depth
                        V
Dwarf Fortress     -> DF Modding -> DFHack -> Programming

so hey basically my entire identity is this dude's doing (might not have gone into modding without Fortbent)?? i'm suddenly feeling very creepy

Okay not trying to score hipster points either, but thank you so much for reminding me of Kid Radd.  It's just really good, and one of the first webcomics I ever saw (maybe the first besides User Friendly, which I didn't realize was crap).

It's just really good and I'm going to re-read/watch it now thanks

(Also I just saw Ashens open a 130-year-old bottle of olives.  Epoch unboxing?)

Holy shit kidd radd.  I think I may still have the whole comic on my hard drive somewhere.  First webcomic of that style I ever read. Bogey would kick a gooba's ass any day of the week.

A little late on this but I took the radioactive cookie test.  I had never heard of Neutron radiation, but figured that since they were just the big particles inside atoms that don't seem to do anything (that I know of) I figured I'd be safe eating it.

Reading the hint made me glad I'm not a nuclear physicist.   And that I usually just stick to chocolate chip.  (I ate the neutron cookie, stuck the alpha cookie in my hand, beta cookie in my pocket, and gamma cookie in the bunker.  I probably died immediately after and got put in the bunker by someone who actually knows what they are doing.)

Well, I would suggest using the...
-snip-
All those options could work, but I'm very non-confrontational. (By the way, Gauntlet is awesome. When are we doing co-op?)
This is most certainly one of my problems, anything vaguely resembling confrontation is unpleasant/terrifying, especially if the person I am confronting is a person I need to interact with regularly. I need to get over this, but it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. Also...

Yeah, if he's a nice guy he'll be willing to step off if you explain you enjoy playing alone sometimes. Especially if you also enjoy playing with him sometimes.
No matter how nice I was about it (I try my best to be nice to the guy) it would be like kicking a puppy.
A derpy, overly excitable puppy, like the chihuahua crossbreed one of my siblings owned that would start wagging madly if you so much as looked at it, and if you gave it a kind word it would just about keel over from excitement. Of course if you raised your voice at it for messing up it would go and hide pitifully in a cupboard for hours. >.>

Get him an interest, sounds like he needs one that doesn't occur in your workspace.

Try and get him to go on some long distance runs and stuff, he sounds a little competitive, but friendly enough to be up for it.If you're lucky he'll get addicted to the dopamine rush.

Or die of heatstroke. It is Australia, after all..
Funny story, the guy actually went on a long distance bike ride about a week ago, in the pre-dawn AM hours, just to buy a Playstation gift card from a convenience store that was still open so he could buy and download the latest Street Fighter game.
I should add, trying my best not to be mean, that this guy is... not fit. Very much not.
My friend and I were struggling not to laugh whilst (at least I was) feeling terrible about the whole thing.
Talk about your conflicting emotions. He made it back, at least. Somehow. :P

Unrelated: All this talk of roleplaying is adding to the nostalgia I felt last night when I started reading 8-Bit Theater again... damnit, now I really wish I could get back into tabletop gaming. Maybe I can find a group in my new city, although last time all the groups I found advertised online seemed dishearteningly polished and professional, as well as having various requirements for joining.
I guess I could ask to join a friend-of-a-friend's group (I think they're mostly playing that vampire RPG at the moment), but they play over Skype and I would much prefer a face-to-face game. Maybe I just need to toughen up, delete some surplus crap off my computer and download the damn thing.

Edit: Don't you hate it when you're hurriedly editing a post, trying to quickly squeeze in an aside or improve a bit of formatting, and you push your luck just a bit too far and wind up with the 'last edited' thing at the bottom? Ugh, looks like it happened to me.

Huh, so while I was aware that Google Code had gone full read-only archive, I hadn't realized the entire thing was going away quite so fast. Couldn't svn stuff off it, but wget still worked. If any of y'all like some stuff they keep there, now would be a good time to mirror it for your own use in the future.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Good lord yes. Rather than do dumb things like proofread or think before I post, I'll often end up editing 3-4 times, trying to do it within the 15 second window or whatever you get before the "edited" stamp appears.

I also for the longest time thought I was leaving extra line spaces at the end of my posts, when it's just the "modify" link extending the length.

Rancid, I would imagine. Chocolate has oils, which eventually become distinctly unpleasant, though it does usually take quite a while.
Yeah, it develops this sort of minty not-so-good taste after a while. Most American-made chocolate takes 1-2 years to get to that state because we stuff it so full of horrible tasting preservatives (which is why it doesn't taste as good as European chocolate). Most European chocolate can reach that state in 6 months or so, usually.

That & most American (or Australian etc.) chocolate isn't legally chocolate (it's confectionary) in a lot of Europe because the % of cocoa is too low. In a sense it's more sugared vegetable oil then chocolate.

I've been more tired lately than normal.  It's probably because of the extremely cold weather we've had the last few days.  I forgot this is how winter is supposed to feel, not sixty degrees on Christmas day.

Yeah and if you eat two of those bars then you've already passed the current mark for the lowest recorded dose to cause death due to theobromine poisoning! Yay! (Assuming you weigh 160 lbs).

That bar also contains enough theobromine to kill about 1.3 cats on average, you murderer. :P
