I've heard of this story and find it hard to believe.  The computer priortizes building SDI everywhere and really doesn't nuke units out in the field.  The computer is also pretty bad at maintaining wars between each other for any length of time.

Fire up the World War 2 scenario that comes with Civ 2 and see what happens.  Usually world peace breaks out in a few years and everyone gangs up on the player.

It's also ridiculously easy to conquer the world with howitzers once you have all the tech and there are railroads everywhere, iirc. (It's been ages since I've played civ II, though)

Makes me want to play Alpha Centauri again, perhaps with the tech victory disabled (pretty sure that was configurable).  On easy of course, I was never particularly good but I enjoyed messing with all the mechanics!

I think he was welcome to attend the event, but not to speak at it.
Whether he should have been granted a platform or not is a different issue, probably too volatile to discuss here.
I'd love to share my opinion but the WTF thread is particularly tangent-prone, by its nature...

The phrase "the X is real" doesn't mean that X exists, it means that in this specific context it's actually there rather than being imagined. e.g. "The hype is real," "the salt is real," and so on.

Ninjad: In the case of a speaker "banned" pretty obviously means "banned from speaking" rather than "banned from attending", since why else would they show up?

Good lord, the manufacturers of this laptop love red LEDs. The keyboard (and the mouse that came with the bundle) are crammed to the gills with them. Do gaming enthusiasts really care about this sort of thing? I just wanted a good CPU, GPU, and pile of RAM.

Red LEDs make laptops go faster. It's common knowledge.

The ASUS laptop that I have does have a light-up keyboard with white LEDs under it.
