But break time's always roughly two hours in to the school day. American heathens.

Theres lunch.

How do they live? Our schools have two half-hour breaks - which you have to eat your lunch in, there's no lunch break, but still.

Well technically lunch was like, 3ish hours long. But split into four seperate lunch breaks, since you clearly cannot fit everyone in the cafeteria at once.

Stepdad had to shut power to the house because he hit a main wire while drilling in the walls. Good that he warned me, but I was in the middle of using Windows Update. He cut power when I was shutting down(during the part that says "Do Not Turn Off the Computer"). This nearly corrupted the OS. It's been at reverting the changes for the past 15 minutes.

Theres lunch.

In my school, lunch tended to be around 10:30 in the morning.

Also regarding those breaks us Americans never got, what were the school hours like? I think in the US it can vary from state to state. I can't remember my elementary school hours, but it was some where between 7:30AM-2:15PM or thereabouts.

I can see breaks being justified if you had longer school hours, but in mine and the other Americans' case, it could be that nobody really complained about it - or more accurately, nobody cared about kids complaining about it.

If I recall, the US also has shorter school year as well.

School days here are usually around 7:45 - 14:45, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter. Holidays are a lot shorter than in the US.

As an ex-SRC member, breaks are srsbsns and working out where to put them and whether to cut them can actually make a major difference.

I remember my senior year of high school I had class from 6:55 AM to about 2:40 PM with about a 45 minute or so break for lunch.

Edit: I just got back from my lunch break at work. When I got back to my desk there's a faint smell of diesel or gasoline or something.

That sounds totally efficient and rational.

Fun Thing:
When you suddenly got that fucked up feeling and know its gonna fuck with you.  Try to stay conscious/rough it out, nothing to hold on to while standing, at least there is the wall to lean back on.  Incorrectly think you are succeeding.  Won't even notice you've faceplanted into the ground till you are confusingly/groggily picking yourself up and wondering why your face hurts.
There may have been that distinct thud sound, as if it was far enough away to have nothing to do with the situation...

This is why US salaries are better, and those with good jobs earn more. Hurts mental and physical health, but makes them look good in productivity and employment terms.

That's not surprising at all. Full-time employment doesn't typically throw homework at you to do at home and require you to study for the upcoming test. Depends on the job, of course.

Best part? Most US salaried positions pay you based on a 40-hour work week and then expect you to regularly work 50-55 hours a week. They want people who will give 110% effort, but not demand 110% pay. I regularly work 50+ hours, and typically my Thursdays are 14-hour days because of all the reports I have to complete.
