(And it's a bit more than the vote of confidence that you'll get the grades - it's more that they expect you'll get the grades, and that even in the worst case where you don't you're still an appetising enough student that they'd take you anyway.)

I'd say Masters in Physics, but where I live that's a postgrad study and I'm pretty sure Grak was doing A levels last year...

Over here a master's is the 4 year undergrad course, as opposed to a bachelor's which is 3 years.
