Why is it that whenever you have alien or mutant species they are always either extremely sensitive or oddly insensitive to eating or harming related species?

Like... if the alien is a plant it hates to see other plants harmed... or if it is a fish obviously it doesn't eat fish (Ohh my Fish eating Fish? Never heard of it!)

Yet... if it is just an uplifted Cow lets say... It will be perfectly alright with hamburgers.

I mean I am a human and while I certainly wouldn't want to see an animal slaughtered infront of my eyes... that is because I am a overly sensitive baby... but I have no problem with people eating meat.

Then what's the issue with uplifted cows eating hamburgers? We're sixteen genes away from chimpanzees, but you say you wouldn't have an issue with eating one. An uplifted cow would have to also be distinct from a regular cow.

Well, what's different from that to people eating chimpanzees? The difference between a regular cow and an uplifted cow would have to be either comparable or far greater than the the difference between us and the other great apes.

I mean, unless someone decided to uplift a cow without making the gross physiological changes necessary to make said upliftment worthwhile, in which case they deserve a special kind of hell.

Huh I was trying to look at Heffer Wolfe as an example of this but I don't actually remember if it came up in the show.  Except for the whole thing about his adoption which is a bit more personal.  It's been too long, I wonder if I can find reruns on amazon...

If I was a cattleperson and I don't think I would really care unless somebody made a point of pointing out what kind of meat it is to me.(which would most certainly be intentionally creepy)  And if a society included anthropomorphized animals (with both sapients and non sapients) I would think most restaurants would avoid mentioning what their meats are made of to avoid that awkwardness.  Awkward is not good for business.  Except in the case of some odd carnivore only speakeasy type deals I suppose.

Now somebody taking out a knife and fork and jumping at a pig at a farm and started carving out chunks I think I would be disturbed... even now...

Personally I'm not really creeped out by full on cannibalism. I mean, obviously if the person is going around chopping up living people to do it, but if someone just happened to have a heart attack in front of you and all attempts at resuscitation failed then I say why the fuck not? If you don't eat them then worms will, and that is creepier to think about in my opinion.
