One does not simply agree with the browser's choice of search engine*. One uses the options menu, or purges the heretic malware involved in it changing on you for no reason. Though in firefox said menu for that is built into the little dropdown in the search box, not the actual options menu.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Browsers do not just 'decide' that you want to use Bing. Packageware makes that decision for the browser; typically when you are DLing untrustworthy or illicit software. This can be fixed, but it involves trepanning your computer's software and declaring all out war on your browser's settings. I did it, and my computer is so well brainwashed it doesn't even know what Yahoo, Bing, Ask, or Fetch are; it's one true god is Google.

Seriously, though, be wary of what you download. Some free antivirus softwares are only free because they get paid to install the Bing Bar and spyware.

Those installers use the same tactics that pharmaceutical companies use to "warn" you about the side-effects of their products. You can totally refuse to install this toolbar..... if you read the tiny grey text hidden inside the logo, and deduce from the confusingly-worded instruction that you're supposed to hit the "Cancel" button in order to continue without installing the spyware.

That's what happens in pharmaceutical ads though, from what I remember (haven't seen one in a long time). They squish all the side effects and terrible repercussions into a 5x speed voice clip in the last half-second of the commercial, or in a brief flash of text at the bottom of the screen in a color that blends into the background.

They're not allowed to do that anymore, and haven't been for some time. The narrator has to list them all off at normal talking speed, and on TV they have to have clearly visible text that displays the same message. It's kinda funny actually, they didn't buy longer time slots, they just reduced the amount of "commercial" time to fit in the "this is what it does/might do besides help you out" part, with the actors doing happy actor things in the background while a man with a soothing voice tells you about how their allergy medication will cause your intestinal lining to disintegrate or whatever.

They still seem to try the fastest talkers, normal speed or not.

They ARE however allowed to not reveal any side effects...

So long as they clearly don't list its advantages.

I saw a commercial for male enhancement and it didn't list side-effects... but then again you would have to look the medication up to find out what it did (or just assume like I did)

That's only for completely unregulated products that legally are not drugs, usually because they do absolutely nothing. If the "male enhancement" products actually claimed to have benefits, they'd be fined heavily and forced to change their commercial, just like the yogurt companies keep getting slammed with.

You don't understand me.

They don't have to advertise side effects. So long as they don't advertise what it does and just vaguely allude to it.

In the Viagra clone commercial. They NEVER mentioned what the product did.

If it's an FDA-approved medication, it is illegal to advertise it without a list of side effects. The "Viagra clone"  you're referring to is an "herbal supplement" that isn't legally considered a drug.

I know the Java updater always tries to make Yahoo your primary search engine.

What was that about the yogurt companies and fines?
