Yeah, and all actors were hypocrites back then. :P

I'm currently trying to work out how to tell the computers teacher I don't need to attend the SQL revision classes without coming off as arrogant. This is made more difficult by the fact that I only lost half a mark on the entire SQL section in the last exam, and that was for a dumb error (SQL strings are or aren't zero-indexed, I forget and forgot to check).
...Ask politely?  In an email?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

To act is to whore oneself.

No really.

According to the ancient Greeks, anyway, who viewed them as equal to prostitutes for similar reasons.

Weren't prostitutes respected back then?

Unrelated factoid: TES2: Daggerfall was originally planned to have a prostitutes' guild. At least one in-game book states that the Empire actually does have one.

Your imagination is by far more interesting than the film. I wouldn't bother.

I honestly thought the blonde one was a hell of a lot older than she probably is.

I would rather watch the Martian book than read the movie.

Don't get me wrong, Con Air is good. Face/Off? Oh, Face/Off is legendary. Every action sequence had blatantly obvious stunt doubles and clearly visible wires. It brought the creepy head-pat into an actual movie and showed exactly how creepy it looks.

Yeah, screenplays are awful to read.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Saw a video of the new battlefront beta.  Player was on the stormtrooper team.  His blaster had what very much looked like a side mounted magazine, but the game has no reload mechanic that I'm aware of.  This bothered me way more than it should have.

It's EA, they'll just go full ME and claim they're "heat sinks" so they can avoid having to innovate on shooter mechanics.

The blaster is juryrigged, so shots come out the side sometimes.  That bit keeps them from harming the user.

Seriously though, it pissed me off.  I kept anticipating the quick FPS "pull clip away and shove in a new one near instantly", like I could see the reload animation playing in my head, but it never happened.

My first thought when I saw the trailer "How will EA fuck this up?" I learned my answer eventually. (No single player mission, all online, multiplayer only, "on the rails" vehicles ect.)
But, as for the "no reload animation," We reload because we use cartridges that take up space inside of the magazine. Lasers simply use energy, and what you are seeing is a large battery/energy generator."

B-but the lore doesn't support that, neither do those other games with Hoth :P
Honestly I noticed it too, I assume they just used a cheat or something.  Maybe felt like reloading wasn't "epic" enough to show off.

Are the actually lasers? I always figured they were small bolts of plasma created by a Tibanna gas reaction in the gun chamber.

Actually, I just looked it up. I'm sorta right, sorta wrong. The CW/GCW-era and even earlier TOR-era blasters use Tibanna gas cartridges, but apparently, pre-Infinite Empire weapons were actual lasers. I'd read more on it, but the Star Wars wikia is a bigger pain in the ass to read than most.
