Yeah, when you post shit that's bad enough to get you banned, that shit tends to go away, although without having seen it I guess I can't comment on its actual qualities. I'll miss him, and Gunner-Chan, too, and Owlga when it gets to that. Good luck to all of 'em.

This appears to be even bigger than GWG... I mean, I wasn't really there for  either person much, but GWG was kinda annoying, while Gunner-chan and her thread and LSP were community figures a lotta people felt they were connected to, right? Jeez...

A while back, as nenjin just ninja'd. Do show a lil'respect in usin' the new one, yeah?

And it seems more that she's leaving 'cause a friend (forcibly) is. If an OP's going, it's definitely the right thing to do to lock the thread, doubly so for a high volume one. One of the major contributing factors to megathreads staying up is the thread creator keeping an eye on things.

It mainly just feels weird to lose the Happy thread.
Not quite as bad as losing the Rage thread (I'm angry more often than happy, after all!), but it's still a shame.

GWG was mostly a forum games thing. The happy thread is essentially FotF's companion in giant subforum megathreadness, which meant that if the OP left, its kinda bad if its unsupervised. But its also bad that the thread is gone, unlike the RAGE thread which had been predicted to die on its first page, and eventually did.

I still think we should make a new one, but thats up to whoever does; I don't think I'd do any good as the thread-watcher.

I'm pretty sure that Happy Thread will be back, under new ownership. It's been iconic thread and well, given teh amount of posts, we are kinda happy people who like to share our happiness around.

So yeah, we just need to find a dilligent, uh, 'thread moderator'.

I'd do it, except I don't want to commit to sticking around and maintaining it for an indefinite amount of time (especially not with the degree of concern she managed to put in for most of it), and I'd still wait a couple of days out of respect (and I expect not everybody else would bother holding their happies for that). Still, as Frumple said, locking it was absolutely the right way to go.
