Yeah, what the hell is that supposed to be?
It's more a limitation of the engine than anything. The darts do stun damage over time so that the enemies don't just drop instantly, but the enemy still registers being hit by a projectile because they always do. So they flip their shit over being attacked by something that they can't see the source of (if you move out of view afterwards) and nobody else does either.

I wanted to play some YT on my phone because it's easier and quicker than alt+tabbing all the time to switch songs. But the two songs that I tried were unavailable. I then tried to play them on the laptop and they worked just fine.

WTH is going on here!?
Just copyright. I'd say copyright bullshit, but the second part is implied.

At subway near me, if you buy 6 foot-long sandwiches, then you get one free.

They have a terrible computer system that only works when it wants to, so when it doesn't want to work, you save your receipts.

I had 6 sandwiches total: 3 on the computerized scanned tag, and 3 separate receipts. I felt so bad for the girl behind the counter, who was a very nice person, but would've gotten herself into trouble.... I specifically said if she didn't feel comfortable with it, I could just come back another day when the managers (who know the computer screws people over a lot) are there. I ended up doing that so she didn't get screwed without even knowing it.

What normally happens and what I wanted her to do: scan the 3 receipts into the machine so I get credit for 6 prior purchases and rewarded with 1 free one.

What she wanted to do: just give it to me and take the receipts. Very good natured and trusting of her, so somebody's gonna take advantage of that.... :(

Here, specifically is the problem: that wouldn't have erased the 3 from the scanner tag thingy, therefore effectively crediting me with 9 prior sandwiches instead of 6.... That would've been halfway to another free sandwich or like giving me half of a free footlong. Simply, I was trying to prevent undue credit to me from the restaurant, because there are a lot of jerks in the world who would totally screw that kid over. Yes, people trust me, but they trust me because I'm trustworthy and never take advantage of shit like that.... I ain't tryin to get anybody fired for anything, and I won't take the chance it'll hurt her, even if it means half a free footlong for me.

I made sure to repeatedly tell her it was ok and not her fault. That way I'd just get rung up and credit for another sub, total 7 and redeem the reward next time. She started getting all worried and expressly told me she didn't understand me. [sigh].

Point simply was this:
I didn't want her to get in trouble for accidentally giving me credit for purchasing 3 sandwiches I hadn't and therefore half of a free footlong. She really didn't know and I cant totally see people being jerks about it and taking advantage of the poor thing. [sigh].

What's really weird, I felt like I just couldn't communicate with this girl, at all. It was just strange. Her thought process was as follows: if I just give this person what they want, then everything will be ok.... She wasn't concerned with the details. She wasn't mean, or trying to screw anyone, or anything bad at all. Rather, she simply didn't know or want to know about doing things right. She couldn't comprehend why this mattered to me. This is contained in the statement, "I was just gonna give it to you free." It never occurred to her that she could be questioned about this, or that she should cover her ass by doing it right. It never occurred to her to listen to the simple math I was saying, but rather, she was just about making it as simple as possible: the result.

She had good intentions, and that is the paving material for roads to Hell. This is an all too common thing today and it's innocently dangerous as all hell, not to me, but to her and those like her. She also got somewhat frightened when I did anything but agree with her, as if the idea of anyone turning down free food was just completely and utterly odd and a little scary.

I couldn't have made it easier, I've got 6 prior footlongs and that means 1 free one. Only issue is 3 are on the computer scan tag thing, and 3 are in receipts in my hand. Scan the receipts onto the computer, and we're golden, because then you'd have 6 on the computer which would = one free one as recorded in the machine. Everything accounted for and CYA. Would she have gotten in trouble for this? Maybe, and maybe not, but I don't wanna take that chance.

Computers suck sometimes. Communication is oddly weird.

@Computers sucking

This is one of the reasons why so many colleges now also emphasize things like usage designing and so forth, I'm actually taking a class that involves UI design right now. :P

What kind of shitty discount is "buy 6 get 7th free", anyway? Most of discounts of that kind that I've seen over here are "buy 1 get 2nd free", which don't have those kinds of stupid accounting problems.

Two for one tends to be short-lived, limited campaigns here, while a 7 for 6 policy would probably be more about building a long-term relationship and (artificial) loyalty with the customer - ie to give them a reason to and keep them coming back.

One intended to incentivized regular custom. Come here six days, seventh comes free, that sort of thing. Meant for habitual customers rather than flash sale type stuff. Is reward for brand loyalty. Good psych trick from marketing, heh.

See it in a lot of places, actually. Is pretty common, usually a reward program type of thing.

And ninja'd, but eh.

Buy one get one free wouldn't really work for a walk in sandwich shop...  That's the kind of temporary discount grocery stores offer when they have overstock.
What I've usually seen is "sub cards" or similar, where they give you a paper card and use a special holepunch to mark how many sandwiches you've gotten.  Somewhere between 6-12 I think, it's been a while, and they give you one free.
Obviously it's not hard to fake a hole punch, so it's somewhat on the honor system, but I think after a few times the employees would notice.
Papa Murphy's has a thing like that, so it's not just sandwich shops.

The common place we tend to see that type of thing in my area is ice cream shops, a sort of "buy X many cones get another one free" type of thing.

Dude, it's simple psychology and marketing. They want people to have a reason to come back and eventually get something long term. It's the same reason freemium gaming works, though that's far more diabolical.

And yeah they used to have hole punch cards but you guessed it, people fudged those. Same deal with the stamps they'd give you. The computers were supposed to be an anti fraud measure. Except, in an ironic twist, the response to customers screwing over the business was for the business' computer to screw over the customer and not register their purchase....

Main sad/wtf was people focusing on the goal instead of the road to get to that goal.

Depends on how hard the local accent is coming through, really. Heavy rural southerner can have a bit of theme clash with multisyllabic conversation :V

And @T, I think at least part of the hope is that over the next decade or two you'll have people getting control of stuff like that that has a better appreciation of the electronic bits working smoothly. Problem nowadays innit folks not focusing on the road inasmuch as not knowing what the road is supposed to look like, heh.

You want some real fun with computer integration, do some attendance/record work for a school that's transitioning from paper to electronic. Pulling out folders that have been in a file cabinet since the 80s is pretty hilarious, especially in the face of opposition to getting a decent/functional digital system.

The sad thing about the school attendance thing is ... I have. I am familiar with the horror that is allegedly school attendance record keeping. Truancy cases.... 'Nuff said.

The horror. The horror. It's like watching Charlie Sheen take the alcoholic's anonymous pledge.

You know how some people have 3-day, and some even 4-day, weekends, on account of Labor Day?

I don't. I have one day off(today). And tomorrow, which is normally a day off for me, is instead 9-hour workday.
