Thought about playing Pillars of Eternity.
'pparently it's got all the DnD gamers on a nostalgia high.

Seems like a half measure given the old SSI gold box games went on sale a few days ago.

Uh oh. I've caught a post pre edit!

Wheel of Morality, turn turn turn, tell us the lesson that we must learn!
SEND REFUGEES TO HELL
KILL THE UNRESISTING
MEET TEARS WITH THE SWORD

I think The Game Theorists sold you a broken one.

Sold nextech a broken one, but something like that. I'm still just kinda' boggling at the last quarter or so of that ruddy game. Someone... someone thought it was a good idea. Somehow. In a game marketed to kids. Bloody hell.

I've actually played through CoC, and it's funny to see it mentioned like that (since you're right that the payoff of the plot is to make the player question their actions, and exaggerating it like it's a mixture of Hatred and Animal Crossing is hilarious to anyone familiar with the game). But considering it seriously, I would say it's a very good thing that the developers took that approach to the story, especially in a game for kids, since I would much rather have a game promote critical thinking and questioning of preconcieved notions than the typical mindless "good vs. evil" junk you'd expect. It's probably the game's biggest strength, or at least the most compelling reason to go back and play it besides nostalgia, since it's otherwise pretty unremarkable.

It just occurred to me how much a Monopoly board is like some kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland; people stumble aimlessly through it, hoping to make it to a safe place rather than getting caught out in the open, where the irradiated wolves/bandits can tear into their flesh/bank accounts.

I'd probably agree that's what they tried, heh. It just came off more looking like the main character was a bit of a genocidal sociopath/hitler youth member, which I guess may have been the point but goddamn. I have no mouth and yet I must kill/stand aside for genocide/commit wide scale ethnic cleansing/sup on the tears of the condemned.

I guess it was pretty unusual to put the player pretty firmly on the side of (at best uncaring, at worst genocidally xenophobic) evil, though. Especially considering how little it was telegraphed before you start up the train to remorseless murdertown :V

Whose bones?

Mine.  I'd like them back if it's not too much trouble.

Sorry. Already in the garbage, but you're welcome to root around for them if you want.

Being really tired is a bit like losing your mind. I set an alarm for fifteen minutes to try and refresh myself a bit more, but when the alarm went off it was ten minutes before I had ever set it. I tried to log in to Facebook but ended up typing gibberish composed from several URLs and my email address. I could have sworn I clicked on Google Chrome, but dozed off and when I next woke up I was restarting my computer. What the hell, blacked-out me?

I have, in sleep-deprived states, set my alarm in the past so that it would wake me up ten minutes ago (yep.), and lost twenty minutes to an hour. I don't remember what I was doing, but it can't have been sleeping because I was standing at the start and standing at the end.

Is it me, or is the general attitude of young people becoming... anti-self-improvement? When I was on my fitness kick, I barely got any support. People would encourage me to be happy with who I was, to love the way my body is... even though the whole point was that I was depressed and wanted to change myself and take control over an aspect of my life that previously felt uncontrollable.
