I'm beginning to think that I don't actually much like metroidvania games?

Super Metroid is my favorite game ever, but whenever I try to play romhacks that don't have the exact same map with some small differences I get burned out really quickly. I mean, considering how many dreams I have about super metroid romhacks that don't exist, you'd think I'd like that kind of thing.

... maybe it's time to move on from super metroid? Guacamelee? Valdis Story? Some new castlevania or another? Could also just be that the romhacks in question are kinda' meh. No tellin'.

Could just be the game itself, too. I think DFO is quite possibly the only fighting/beat-'em-up I've played that I really enjoyed, ferex. Played the heck out of Super Mario 64, but couldn't enjoy pretty much any other puzzle platformer on the system. Stuff like that. Sometimes you like a game in spite of its genre or general design, instead of because of it.

Take #2 on trying to find some other method of getting home. This time trying the train. According to my mother, a ticket was supposed to be $1.75 - cheaper than the $2.25. It was $3, and next train to where my mother would pick me up - the idea being to allow her to leave work at 5PM, grab me on the way, rather than go all the way out to my job(roughly 15-20 minute trip) - wouldn't actually arrive until quarter to 6PM. Or maybe not, since my mother supposedly saw an earlier train on the way to picking me up when she realized the above problem.

Tons of jobs meant to go out today. Most aren't yet done being printed. Somehow my fault.

Getting rushed to finish as much as possible. The ones that were printed were cutting like shit for a few different reasons. Liner not staying in one place. The back of the sheet was very poorly aligned with the front. The press operator gave no shits. I was told to just deal with it. Too much fucking around.

Shit should have been printed days ago. Probably not getting out this week.

Also the three hour drive from my mom's place took 5 hours today and I have literally no idea why.  Maybe I got abducted by elves?  Does that mean I'll give birth to a changeling?  I wish I still had that comprehensive book on fae...

... have just finished watching a playthrough of crusader of centy. Old genesis action/rpg, zelda style with a bit more dialogue. The moral of the story is... ethnic cleansing.

Your end goal and win state is time traveling back into the past, cracking open the gate that was powered by a force trying to integrate monsters and humans into a peaceful whole -- which was entirely possible, because they could communicate with each other and many of the monsters actually wanted to, you know, stop being murdered by humans -- and then ripping every single member of the monster species into an interplanetary (/planar) gate, banishing them back to a death world of literal darkness. This is in spite of being pretty much repeatedly told by literal goddamn gods to choose the peaceful route, to help bring peace, to elevate humans above their prejudices and find harmony between all sentients. Nope. You fuckmurder your way to an eject button and kick the entire body of displaced refugees back to a hellworld that's literally called the Underworld. This is after such things as just standing and fucking watching as members of the local garrison walked in and murdered monsters that were literally begging for their life and crying as they were cut down.

Having killed or displaced everything not human and capable of communication in the world, you return to the future to find it one of evident "peace", complete with dissidents imprisoned in the local jail. What in the goddamn fuck happened with this game? This thing started off as a vaguely happy romp with animal friends, and it turns into time traveling genocide of such fervor you apparently scare the very gods into back tracking and functionally saying murder and segregation was the right path the whole time (or at least the dominate human species managed to press a hard enough jackboot onto history to rewrite the message as such). What the hell.
