I am finding myself often being put in an argument where someone tries to justify a character's appearance by citing a sort of mythological standpoint.

Yet the thing is that mythology REALLY doesn't have their back. Most fertility gods, even scandalous ones, tended to only have beautiful appearances with Frigyr, one of the very few male fertility gods, being one of the few exceptions I found.

Sure then you have women with incredibly, or even multiple, breasts and a large size... But the thing is that they tended to be "Mother figures" where their appearance was meant to be more comforting or beautiful.

Or rather I guess it is to say that mythology very rarely has your back.

Heck Incubuses are not the "male versions of succubi" people often think of them as, well in the original form, but are rather hideous looking and tend to only visit sleeping women. Succubi were likely the same, but I honestly cannot remember.

So next time you try to bring up the mythology excuse remember... Sexyness was rarely a priority, and when it was it REAAAAAALLY was.

---

PS. Frigyr is probably the most awesome Norse god that no one talks about... He has a robot boar and a magical flying ship... AND is a god of love... AND is the brother of one of the most kick ass gods in norse mythology... Freya.

Right, 'Beautiful' here being a counterpoint to 'sexy'?

Well they had a sort of elegance, stride, warmth, and allure beyond the sexual. Aphrodite isn't generally depicted as a living sex puppet even by the time's standards.

And while Frigyr is generally described in a rather sexual tone, he is meant to be taken less seriously. He is meant to be sort of a jovial deity who is youthful in his design... so much so that it is kind of the joke. He is almost like a Fairytale.

Also I thought Isis isn't the Egyptian love goddess it is Nephyr something whatever the heck... the Cat Goddess of some sort...

10,000 years actually. Though a "furry" is just an anthropomorphized animal in anyway... so we have a long history with it.

Heck Centaurs of Greek Mythology are a good example as well. (Minotaur, Spiderwomen, and attractive Mermaids also invented by greeks)

The internet didn't invent them :P it just created a lens.

It saddens me to no end that Isis has been overshadowed by machete bombers

Cat Goddess = Bast, God of Household.
I like how egyptian gods are identifiable to the layman by whatever animal they happen to be.

Today, I've spent way too much time wrestling with a tight word count (both minimum and maximum) for an essay. I just noticed a small scrawl in pencil by it in my book. The minimum word count had been reduced when the homework was given, making it a much easier fork to fit the text in. I'm stupid.

School starts tomorrow for us, and being the child of Asian immigrant parents tends not to prepare me emotionally.
