It's because Newton's equations are only approximations for what actually happens. But you can sort of cheese it by working out what value you approach as you approach a mass of 0. You don't get the answer that's seen in real life, but you get one.
General relativity works far better for light. You should probably use that if you want to be doing calculations about how light is affected gravitationally.

Nah, vulcans have more oddities to them than just being faster and stronger. Much closer to eldar (or, well, the other way around, since vulcans came first) than tolkein elves. Overall they definitely hit a lot of your average mary sue points, though.

If you wanted another one that's distinctly anti-sue, gully dwarves probably count pretty well.
