Batman becomes really funny character when you consider the possibility of him not wanting to murder criminals... but rather put them on a wheelchair where they eat through straw for the rest of their lives thanks to his maniacal fist-pounding.

OF COURSE plot would have you believe his bat-fu is so exotically advanced he just knocks the bad guys out cold, and they are completely unhurt bar a small, non-dangerous headache.

But say he does that to penguin or someone that fat: their blood pressure from all those supervillainy-convention pork roasts must be through the roof, how does he know they're not gonna get a heart attack? You smash up a few thousand people, chances are one of em's gonna have a weak heart and too much cholestoerol to survive the shock and resulting heart attack, as far as I understand science.

Batman is against killing. It just so happens that guns tend to be lethal.

Barring the very earliest incarnation, and discounting various Silver Age wackiness, Batman is very anti-gun because a handgun was the means by which his parents were murdered in front of him, while the "no killing" rule is a self imposed "keep me from becoming the monster" thing. That said, most of the "not-really-a-gun" explanations make perfect sense by this viewpoint.

Honestly, at this point I'm pretty sure he's over his parents' death and just restrains himself because of tradition.

The Cannon is... I am sorry, there is no way a cannon and Turret isn't just a big gun.

The only reason I can kind of look at it oddly is because a long time ago in the ancient times of the 1990s they actually went the extra mile to ensure that Batman wasn't using a Gun. They even designed his Grappling hook to not be a gun. I mean I am sure the Batmobile still had missiles back then, but they weren't designed to target people like they are now.

Honestly at this point the only gun batman doesn't use is a handgun at this point.
