Unless you have that phobia of regularly spaced organic holes, that's not really all that bad. The mother isnt harmed at all, and skin actually develops around the eggs rather than the eggs puncturing the skin, it sounds like. Its like a bizarro marsupial mammal.

Oh, I find it fascinating actually. As for eggs themselves, depends how you understand "eggs get embedded into the skin" and "eggs sink into the skin", though I'd agree, yeah, no actual piercing... But still decently bizarre, eh? You do get animals carrying around sacks of their impregnated eggs, but not many use their own skin to do so.

I'm really wishing that there was an emoticon with a single arched eyebrow and an expression of amused disbelief, because that would just about perfectly capture the expression that just crept across my face.
