Hmm, I guess I just think about those kind of desires differently to other people, since I'm not really interested too much in sexual activity. Say we built a sex robot that appeared, for all intents and purposes, they same as something that a pedophile was attracted to, and then handed one out to every pedophile we could find anywhere. Does this mean that, at that point, pedophilia would no longer be considered inherently bad, because it no longer "involved inflicting lasting trauma and/or bodily harm on others"?

You misunderstood. They didn't mean fulfillment in the psychological, "I'm so fulfilled!" sense. They mean 'fulfillment of pedophile desires." That is to say, acting upon them.

I'd be willing to say that it's possible to fulfill a desire partially in a way unlike the normal without necessarily totally fulfilling it. For example if I had a deep dream of going to Disneyland I might be able to partially assuage such a desire by taking a virtual tour. I'm not actually at Disneyland, but it would still somewhat fulfill my desire to be at Disneyland.

Yeah, even if we just look at a single person's survival rather than looking at that of a group, having a reliable social partner provides all sort of mental and physical benefits that aren't available to a single person alone.

It might become logical for a species as well after we reach a certain point. We could control population and the problems that come about because of being overpopulated much easier if we "grow" babies inside a laboratory. Being asexual also removes a lot of other problems as well, rape for example becomes non-existent and nobody would have to worry about being excluded because of their sexuality.
