I did a quick search and found this:

It creates a map as a Scalable Vector Graphics image.

Do you have a preference in output format?  My software favors producing vector images.

I can give you 2d iges, DXF, CGM, PDF, and a few others out of the box.  With something like pstoedit, I can turn that into anything pstoedit supports, including older .ia format, and a number of others.

Yeah, but I can put TEXT in! (and pretty pictures too if I want. Not to mention things like hashed fills, gradients, colors, and things like that.)

I can also do ANY tessellating shape.

I need a PNG, and have no idea what to do with a svg - incidentally, I'd prefer it to be white lines (including text, if you can easily label) on black.

Make one?  It would not be hard. I could make one in about 5 minutes with some CAD software.

Tell you what, I will make you one. I have such CAD software on hand, and it is painless to use (for me.)

How large do you want the hexagons?  (either across, or on side, either will permit me to generate your map.)

Thanks - the only software I have available would require me to draw each hex one-at-a-time. One inch from point to point would be an ideal size, I can scale it from there.

This image is going to be much larger than you think it should be. That I guarantee. It produces a 4.4mb png file. It is enormous.

I made the line thickness a little thicker than the default line thickness, so that scaling it smaller wont turn the line into nothingness.  You said you wanted black background and white lines.

I did not number them-- there are just too damn many.

I dont think he realized how big the grid would be.

(IMHO, the vector image version would have been far superior. Less memory needed to open, easier to scale. Prints better.)

What I intend to use it for can't handle vector images. This is what I needed.
