The price given the specs is exactly the problem. Well, not the only problem, but it's the obviously malicious one. The inefficiency in its performance as a gaming build could just be put down to incompetence. Or more cynically, deliberately inflating the price some more for bigger profit margins.

Let's do the math!

That GPU? Draws 55W according to Nvidia.

That CPU? Core i7-4770K’s TDP is 84 W, according to Tom's Hardware

3tb HDD? Looks like they spec'd a spinning disk. According to Tom's hardware, that is between 5 and 7 watts of juice.

32gb of DDR3? Average power draw is 3W per stick. If we assume we are driving with 4x 8gb modules, that 12W draw.

So far, we are looking at 157W when in active use.

Thats not counting the costs of the thermal elimination, and the power drained by your AC unit to keep your game room cool with this space heater running in it.

I HAVE gotten that build for half that amount.  In fact if I had a camera I would take a picture.  I have that exact same computer same case same specs, and it cost me 499 $599 before adding my second monitor and some peripherals(like a non-OEM windows 8.1). From Newegg.  Somewhere around last DECEMBER.  That is a major ripoff.

Now for the thing I actually came into this thread for.  I had burger cooking down to a science, what setting to put the stove on, exact timer settings between flips, everything.  What in the past has given me consistently delicious slightly crunchy well done burgers has just given me two rare-medium rare burgers.  WTF heat science, how can I remove all the variables and get vastly different results?

Cooking is not a science. Cooking is an art, and trying to do it purely mechanically will give unreliable results.

Cooking is not a science. Cooking is an art, and trying to do it purely mechanically will give unreliable results.

Science needn't be mechanical, but there are just far too many variables that can be efficiently tested and prepared for. That's when the artistic vision and foresight come in.
