I clearly need to be more conscious of the level of awesomeness of dragons I encounter in works of fiction. I honestly don't know what would have the most advantages.

Do any of them get regeneration of limbs/vital organs for practical immortality? Wouldn't be fun to spend the remainder of eternity as a three-legged dragon after getting the last one stuck under a mountain.

A part troll one from D&D would regenerate from having it's head cut off unless burned with fire or dissolved in acid.

Alternatively there are ways for them to cast cleric spells that can let them regrow bodyparts.



But yeah, best dragon to be would be a D&D silver or gold probably, can take human shape, cast spells and are bigger and more powerful than most other dragons, immensely intelligent, charismatic and durable, with an essentially infinite lifespan.

There's also the Hex Dragons and Tome Dragons which are super adept at magic, and the epic dragons such as Force Dragons and mortal Prismatic Dragons. I favor Tome Dragons

IIRC some D&D ruleset (AD&D or something?) allows dragons to breed with anything intelligent... half-dragon intelligent swords.

The half-dragon template can be applied to any living corporeal creature with no other restrictions. This means dragons can procreate with humans, ogres, sheep, sapient trees, oozes, demons, and cuttlefish, just to give a few examples.

Some really bad, evil part of me wants to scream about D&D dragons being a vector for all manner of REALLY NASTY zoonotic STDs, since they are magically biocompatible with EVERY sentient species.

RE: Dragons:
Unless they're descended from a dragon/warforged couple and were born with bits of their body made out of metal. Don't ask how, but it involved a slightly more literal interpretation of Insert Tab A into Slot B.

Alternatively, all dragons and descendents thereof are secretly multiclassed into an order of Paladins whose oaths don't create a catch-22 where using your disease immunity for safe sex with random strangers makes you lose it.

What if the bard is also a dragon?

(Imagines a dragon trying to play a musical instrument, and singing, then tryingt to hook up with the bar maid. The image is so hilariously pricesless, I just cant shake it.)

(Note, fire comes out while the dragon-bard sings, causing all the people he plays for to run away screaming as he sets roofs on fire by accident.)

(also, he is a fully sized dragon, playing a teeny tiny musical instrument.)
