It certainly does help to use the sequences to read articles in order. Still, I wouldn't say RW is the cesspool of scum and villainy I sometimes hear it proclaimed as being.

(Then again, it's been probably more than a year and a half since I've really read things on RW, so YMMV.)

No it doesn't. It literally makes you more dumb. I mean, Yudkowsky has failed to even finish school and doesn't have higher education, and he's the main center-figure of Less Wrong, why would a fail-person like him be able to give you any sorts of meaningful advise on "how to get smarter"?

Man, I don't even agree with half the stuff on LessWrong but I'd have to admit that it's still more valuable to my intellectual growth than a site like RationalWiki could be. Then again, the essay format is one I prefer for a lot of that stuff because it does boil down to an argument, and that's better for helping me think better because it spurs me on to forming a counterargument. Whereas an encyclopedic format tends to be more of a "take it or leave it" kind of thing, since all the argument and proper alignment of evidence almost has to be buried in the citations.

For one, I haven't actually read more than two articles from RW and it certainly didn't "taught" me anything. I just compared what I saw in those two articles with what I saw on Less Wrong.

I also find the whole idea of Singularity to be laughably wrong, which definitely contributes to my dislike of LW, but that's a whole other can of worms.
