In school, I was generally criticized for my handwriting by my teachers, until I showed them a perfectly formed cursive paragraph, which they lauded as being beautiful.

I couldn't read a word of what I had just written.

They just probably think that is how geeks actually act like.

They write him as self-obsessed, egotistical, and socially inept. You can be every one of those things without being autistic, although he almost certainly does have some variant of OCD.

The film industry is allowed to say that it prefers men/asians/whatever because there are a lot of cases where nothing else would make sense. It wouldn't make much sense to cast a black woman to play, say, Oda Nobunaga, no matter how good an actress she is. Writing better characters is one thing, but shoehorning people in who don't fit a role in the name of diversity is just silly. In most cases it doesn't really make sense to discriminate, but the exception is there for a reason.

Oh, sure. Sorry, I was unclear. Actors shouldn't be excluded as a general rule for those reasons, but when those reasons get grandfathered in under "Enabling a convincing performance" instead of "Casting director is a bigot" then it's pretty much fine. Arbitrary checklists for diversity is exactly what I don't want.

EDIT: Fixed a double negative that got worked in when I swapped sentence structures midway through. Woops! That sentence meant exactly the opposite of what I meant it to.

I don't have one of those fancy, squiggly, indecipherable cursive signatures.
I tried making one of those but I couldn't figure out how. I've never been good at handwritin'.
So instead I compressed my first name into this dramatic-looking stylised version that I can draw quickly. I think it's kinda cool.

They write him as self-obsessed, egotistical, and socially inept. You can be every one of those things without being autistic, although he almost certainly does have some variant of OCD.

And physically incapable of doing anything outside his everyday rhythm or else it causes him undue stress. Where physical contact irks him and he only does so himself out of obligation. And simply social cues escape him.

Signatures... I print my signature, I can't do cursive or squiglies.
Granted, my printing is... lazy and messy, in a way that can't be replicated. You'd spot somebody forging my signature right away, if there ever was a reason to forge a signature.

I mostly write in script, cursive's wild little brother who doesn't care what other people think. I have taught myself some 'wrong' scripting techniques to make writing faster and more legible, though.

Am I legible? I don't handwrite in English (or even my native language) very often, as touch typing is so much faster and easier to edit, and almost guaranteed to be legible.

But seriously, cursive can just suck multiple pieces of ball shaped objects that I am in possession of, I could never remember what letters joined to which and eventually switched to joining absolutely every letter in a word, my teachers never pointed this out either.

In proper cursive all the letters join

It just has different rules in how letters join and in what ways.
