Look, BBT is a shallow, unrealistic, unfunny depiction of "nerds" for the masses, but in terms of racial stereotypes it's more in line with "model minority" depictions of Asians than any kind of blackface minstrelsy.

Anyone has any suggestions for a decent show?  I don't mind 'weird' and alternative (maybe), but I am a fan of more serious ones with imperfect heroes.

First of all, that's not what blackface is.

Secondly, they all have mental illnesses (except Lenard) which are used as a punchline, the show is in love with the "you can't be pretty AND smart" idea (especially for the female characters but it applies to everyone), and they're all massive stereotypes.  Whenever it references nerd culture it tends to be making fun of it somehow.  Also none of them are rich, and most of their girlfriends are hollywood ugly.

The "proper" kind. The kind you hear on BBC News. She's a child of rich parents, so it probably makes sense. I dunno, I just did what I barely knew how to.
