Pretty sure that Win8 gets free upgrade to Win10 for a limited time. I see it too, just don't click on it unless you want to begin downloading what is doubtlessly(snark/cynicism) Microsoft's next fuck up.

Actually, no. its more of an advertisement box that snuck in via windows update. [windows 10 ad crap], then a mention that yes, it is free and you keep it, then quickly mentions how this isn't even gonig to be available to download until the end of july.

Windows 8.1 was pretty good, but I guess I can't really trust people to actually try things instead of whining about them.

8.1 isn't bad, but its not great either if you already have a decent windows, and not that great considering all the help I've done with it invovled 'where is my start menu stuff can you help please?' Better than 8 certainly, probably not as good as Win10 SP1/Win10.1 whenever that shows up.
