why steampunk exists, cyberpunk also exists, but gyropunk doesn't?

Because there is no such thing as wheelpunk or crowbarpunk either. The genre is defined by an aesthetic paradigm primarily, with the technology being secondary (matter of fact, that's how Steampunk came to be - some writers decided, for shits and giggles, to write a cyberpunk story except based on Victorian tech).

It's sometimes goes out a bit into it's own thing, but it's usually just a part of steampunk or at least a very close companion.

Clockpunk and yeah, it sorta is a thing, but it's blurry. Discworld used to be Clockpunk for a looooong while.

Mind you due to the popularity of steam punk... the definition of it has been stretched so far... that often you don't need to be steam punk to be steam punk.

Wtf for the day; there's this statue on the side of the gym at NIC called the "Copper Students" depicting two nude figures, male and female. So as I'm walking under the gym I'm hearing birds chirping right above me, in the female figure, but can't see anything so I figure they're on the roof. On my way back I see a bird swoop across the street, and dives right into the lady. Chirping ensues. Bird flies out. Chirping continues. The birds have set up a nest in the statues backside, it seems.

Only thing better would be if they were great tits, and they were up a little higher, but I think it was a blackbird I saw. So no tits in yo tits joke. Damn.

The reason you can't REALLY have Gyropunk is because... well..

Steampunk is more then just technology but also a line of thinking... the same with Clockpunk.

They have different themes and ideas.

Steampunk in many ways is "What if we had the technology of today, but with the mindset of the early industrial revolution?"

While Clockpunk is "What if we had futuristic technology... in the 1400s?"

Never forget gunpunk. The aesthetic of feudal Japan changes quite a bit when pretty much every device is supposed to explode in one way or another, sooner or later.

Well then how would I label the setting where the noble knights can mow down hundreds of peasants with repeater crossbows powered up by gyroscopes while remaining immune to return-fire due to being in full plate armour, if not "gyropunk"?
