Becoming a commercial pilot is hard enough that only people who have a certain passion for it apply. They fly because they want to, not because of salary. Hell, leisure pilots actually pay to be allowed to fly a plane.

You would think their salary would have had a major increase after 9/11, considering the new hazard associated with the job. I realize that airline hijacking was nothing new by then, but just killing everyone as opposed to more conventional uses for hostages was unprecedented as far as I know. I would certainly want more pay knowing the paradigm had shifted like that.

Airplane travel took a massive dive in business after 9/11. Hence lower wages.

Slightly relevant to the impoverished pilots thing, apparently air traffic controllers often have salaries in the upper half of the $100-$200k range...

... because it's a stressful, high-stakes job with long hours and a relatively short career length, but hey.

It's a fantastic job if you have the temperament, I bet, but with high competition in skill and the hours, but doesn't really sound like trying to be one is a great bet, unless you're passionate about it.

$100k-$200k... pretty good for a non-degree-style (shorter) qualification, I think... not used to dollars.

$100k starting out is basically goddamn fantastic regardless of what the pre-reqs are, in the US. It's roughly double the median household income in this country. Four year degree can be lucky to start out in the 60k range in many industries, iirc, nevermind less than that. It's easily a middle to upper-middle class income in most places (lower-middle to middle in some higher cost of living areas, though), especially if they have a partner that is also working.

Or use the presidents by number afterward.  POTUS45 for the next and so on.
But it is more likely to be a dynasty thing, unless Twitter has a function to change the account name and make a new POTUS account afterwards.
