I plan to take a mandatory Religion class in summer school this summer (it's online and self-paced, though, so I don't actually have to go to school during the summer) so a couple days ago I signed up for it.

After I sign up, I'm looking for the course material and stuff, and I see I'm also registered in this "COM1255" course. I look at it, and it's all like, "You have to take COM to take any other course online with us. Expect to spend 10-15 hours on it." Seriously, what the heck. It said nothing about an additional 15 hour prerequisite. Why did it not mention I had to take this course BEFORE I signed up?!

Oh that's right, because now, they already have my non-refundable moniez.

Coworker accidentally sliced themselves. You would think that "be careful with knives" would be something that would be common sense, not a trained skill. Then again, I've seen people who literally could not make a box.

Always cut downwards and away from yourself. Never towards you. And if you are cutting something up and it gets stuck, the default reaction should not be to yank on it like you are trying to start your lawnmower. Seriously, down and away.

Maybe I've just been stuck in way too many safety talks, and this is all just elementary to me.

Yeah, there's a difference between trimming the size of a box down, and pretending you are cutting down underbrush with a machete.

I've seen and heard some really stupid things though.

Also today, another coworker had us all convinced that there was a snake loose in the factory. A delivery guy dropped off some skids, and when the coworker went to grab one, he got a hand full of loose staples. Left a nasty mark and some terrible bruising. He said a snake did it, and that it was coiled around one of the skids. Had us going for a while.

Maybe this would be better in the terrified thread.
