Eh, I wouldn't be entirely sure of that. Personally, my math related grades jumped up like two letters when I went from high school to college. Very different environment, and often significantly better resources (on-site tutors, better/more accessible teachers, better tech/book resources, the list just kinda' goes on) for learning.

Well, the problem is that getting those sorts of grades in high school (he doesn't exactly have straight A's otherwise, anyway) doesn't set him up for much beyond community college. I guess that would be a possibility, but until recently he's been quite optimistic about his college admissions chances.

Also, I had the opposite experience where my math-related class grades fell by a letter grade (or even a letter grade and a half) from the last year of high school to my first year of college.
