Well, I got my weed eater out and I attempted to start its little engine thing up so I could weed eat, I pull on its pull thing a few times and..the handle part separates from the engine thing. Amazing, and the crappy one that I also have? no fuel, and the thing that holds the fuel? I have no idea how to use it. Glorious.

Re: Religious stuff: While we're on the subject, I remember once looking up the actual definitions of atheism/agnosticism and being confused to find that they meant pretty much the opposite to what I thought they did. Like, atheism just meant not following any actual religion whilst agnosticism meant flat-out not believing in god(s).
Just now I looked at Wikipedia and apparently it is how I originally thought, with agnosticism meaning the whole "unknown/unknowable" shebang. Which is actually true?!

Edit: And it was actually more a case of 'atheism' and 'agnosticism' referring to different things entirely.
I think, by that source, I was classed as a "gnostic atheist", which was confusing as all hell. I always referred to myself as 'agnostic', but I'm not even sure what that really means anymore.

Atheist is "there is no god" or "I do not think there is a god".

Yeah, I've personally considered the most distasteful aspects of religion the 'worship' part. Worshiping is an outdated concept.

You have NO idea how hilarious a statement this is.

Not because I could say that the idea of Worship can be boiled down to thankfulness and tribute.

But because you live in the modern age where they made several TV shows to worship celebrities at all times.

Worship isn't outdated... it made a revival!

And I disagree with them entirely. Worship is a concept unfit for the modern age. Unfortunately, it seems not everyone believes the same thing.

Gnosis is knowledge. Theism is deity. A- as a prefix means lack of.

So a-gnosis would mean lack of knowledge, or more to the point, a lack of belief in the possibility of knowing. A-theism would mean lack of deity, or lack of a belief in a deity. Atheist also generally also extends to most other supernatural claims, but it is not an intrinsic part of the definition (which would be why Buddhism can be describe as an atheistic religion. It doesn't have any gods, despite the whole nirvana and an after-life some sects have)

You can be any combination of the two terms, but generally it falls under agnostic atheists (don't believe you can know for sure, but does not think there is a god and acts as if there isn't) and gnostic theism (does believe you can know for sure, and that their religion/god is it) You don't often see gnostic atheists, since a lot of atheistic culture (for lack of a better term) sees it as intellectually dishonest, and agnostic theists would be... interesting, though I have heard of them.

So if I believe that there's some form of god, yet don't believe in/follow any particular religion, what category does that fall under?

Non-denominational theism would fit, I suppose. Do you believe it is possible to KNOW if god exists? Also, depending on what kind of god. If you think he just kick-started the universe and went bowling or something, didn't intervene anymore after that, that's called deism. If you think god is the universe or something akin to that, I suppose animism would be close to that, I'm not sure if there's a different term for it.

I'd just call it agnosticism.
Hence why we stretch such words into becoming blanket terms.

Pantheism. Animism is about natural and/or ancestor spirits, a subtype of polytheism.

Also, one label yet to be mentioned: apatheism. When you just don't care if there is a god/gods.

Presidential elections in two-ish weeks, so campaigning in full swing. One particular ad was a candidate who was:
a) A monarchist;
b) Promising to push for an *INSERT WORDS* of Jesus Christ as the king of Poland (the two points are unrelated - HOPEFULLY).
c) Dead serious.
