I have to write a "teaching philosophy" for this abomination of a class that I made the mistake of signing up for at the beginning of the semester. The prof was shoved into it despite the fact that he's never taught high-school Latin, and it's been a mishmash of educational pseudoscience, regrettable presentations and bad guest speakers ever since.

However, I am acutely aware of the need to synthesize the age-old wisdom of the academy with modern educational science to deliver impactful, student-centered instruction that will prepare students for the challenges of an increasingly connected twenty-first century world. It is my earnest belief that by uniting modern innovation and psychological insight with tried-and-true practices that have guided teachers through the centuries, contemporary educators can create effective curricula that empower students to succeed in the new millennium.

Luckily, the prof hates the whole shebang as much as I do, and I'm getting him a copy of my actual teaching philosophy- a copy of Scott-King's Modern Europe by Evelyn Waugh- as a thank-you gift at the end of the term...

Of course, it's not the pound symbol, it's a | \ key, which I have an almost identical one next to my enter key.

On a britbong keyboard the one next to enter has the # and ~ symbols on it, while on this keyboard they're scattered to the furthest corners of the number row, on the far left ` key and 3 key.

Its used in a few languages. For example, in portuguese, "à" has the sound of two "a" sounds, etc.

Not on my keyboard. Trust me, I'd know - I have that exact mark in my name. I have to constantly either use alt+138 or U+00E8 (the latter of which is incredibly irritating on the forum, which interprets ctrl-u as underline, regardless of context).

Incidentally, these funny letters are what almost all normal letters on all screens (except for the main menu) have been replaced with in a game I've bought decades ago, Age of Empires 2. There was also no music at all and I think so
